We've had a busy, exciting day in MJM Marine. Some of our ladies have been out supporting the annual Southern Area Hospice Ladies Lunch; we have been shortlisted for THREE Irish News Workplace and Employment Awards; and our Chairman Brian McConville, Connie McConville and Gary Annett, CEO were in Belfast today to pick up an award from the UK Board of Trade for exemplary performance in international trade. It is #NationalMentalHealthAwareness week and as part of the MJM Marine Health & Wellbeing Programme, we arranged a "Take a Break" Coffee morning to encourage employees to get away from their desks or work stations and have a coffee with other colleagues. Coincidentally it is also #NationalDoughnutWeek so the Health & Wellbeing Committee laid on doughnuts for employees to enjoy with their tea/coffee. And as it was such a beautiful morning and given that the good weather has a positive impact on mental wellbeing, we had our coffee morning outside. #greatplacetowork

MJM Marine chose the Starburst Sensory Project at Rathore School as our Charity of the Year 2019. This wonderful project which is driven by Rathore School Parents and Friends' Association aims to create a state-of-the-art multi-sensory and virtual learning environment for pupils at Rathore and the wider community. As part of our fund-raising activity we are delighted to launch the MJM Marine Charity Golf Day which will take place at Warrenpoint Golf Club on Friday 31st May.... Congratulations to Naoimh McAteer Director of MJM Marine on being shortlisted for ‘Young Director of the Year’ in the 2019 Institute of Directors (IoD) ‘Northern Ireland Director of the Year Awards’. Winners will be announced at a gala ceremony in Belfast next month.

This amazing young man is part of the reason MJM Marine has chosen The Starburst Sensory Project at Rathore Special School as our Charity of the Year 2019. Conor”s mum Ann McCann contacted us in December to ask for support for the project. She told us about the challenges Conor faces but the amazing progress he has made at Rathore. As this post says Conor was non verbal three years ago but look at him now...not only speaking but singing in front of a crowded room. Conor is just one child of many who benefit from the superb dedication, support and expertise of the staff at Rathore. The Starburst Sensory Project at Rathore is a much needed additional resource which will open up endless opportunities and possibilities for children with complex and challenging needs and MJM Marine is proud to support it.
