About Moira Methodist Church

Moira Methodist Church is an active, Christ centred congregation living, working, witnessing and worshipping God in the heart of Moira, Northern Ireland.

Moira Methodist Church Description

The history of Methodism in Moira, can be traced back to 1756 and the arrival of an itinerant Methodist preacher in the village.

John Wesley was subsequently to visit Moira on 2 separate occasions during his travels to Ireland. In 1822, the current Methodist Church was built in Moira and since that time, has been home to an active, welcoming and Christ centred congregation, living, working and witnessing in the village.

Today, the Moira Church is part of Moira & Glenavy Circuit. Spread across 3 counties, the circuit which is part of the Portadown District of the Methodist Church in Ireland, also includes Methodist churches in Craigmore and Glenavy as well as the ‘Church on the Hill’ Covenant Church in Maghaberry.

Morning Worship is currently held every Sunday at 10am in Moira Presbyterian Church Hall, pending construction of a new Methodist Church in Moira. Everyone is very welcome to join with us as we worship, praise and give thanks to The LORD. During July and August, evening services are held at 9pm, with additional services during Advent and Easter Week. This year Epilogue Services will be held at The Upper Room in Moira Presbyterian Church.
