Mourne Flying Club
About Mourne Flying Club
Keeping you up to date with the activity at Aughrim. A friendly farmstrip in the heart of the Mournes. Freecall Kilkeel Radio on 123. 450. PPR advised.
Mourne Flying Club Description
Aughrim Airfield is situated at the heart of the Mourne Mountains. It lies between two mountains, Knockcre (West) and Aughrim (East). The strip orientation is 17 and 35, it is 500yds long. The strip has good slope so landing 35 and takeoff 17 is usually best advised. It is a friendly strip with several active aircraft, also within 2 miles of another airfield Derryogue which is also worth a visit! If you fly around the Mournes at all, give us a call on 123. 450, there might not always be someone on frequency; but it's good to know about other possible traffic in the vicinity. PPR is advised, so look us up in Pooleys, Aviators Guide to Ireland or Kevin Glynn's Flight Guide, or any other questions you can ask on this page.

Our nominated charities this year are Daisy Lodge and Daniels Rainbow fund.
Daisy Lodge supports families and young people diagnosed with cancer, providing therapeutic and short breaks in their residential centre in Newcastle Co. Down. As well as community support for children and young people.
... Daniel’s Rainbow Fund is named in memory of a special little boy, Daniel Forsythe. The fund is raising money to support research into Wilms’ tumour, and that these cancers can be diagnosed at an earlier stage.
These are both local and very important charities! Please be generous in your donations on the day!
