What is it?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment (HBO) provides the body with extra oxygen.
This is done by sitting in what is known as a Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber where the air pressure is raised up to three times higher than normal and using a mask to breathe in the pure oxygen.

How does it work?
Oxygen is carried around the body by the blood. Breathing in 100% (pure) oxygen under increased atmospheric pressure allows extra oxygen to be taken up by the bloodstream and dissolved at a far greater rate. The treatment increases the amount of oxygen your blood can carry. This extra oxygen can help where healing is slowed down by infection or where blood supply is limited by damage to the tissues.

Who can benefit from it?
