To be awarded the 2nd best Company in the north west region at the Foyleside trade event hosted by #YENI today was incredible. The team worked tirelessly in order to provide you with great customer service and the best baby hampers there can be. To be given recognition for our efforts is great and we thank young enterprise very much for the award.

Today we want you to meet Zara another member of our sales team!
Zara is 17 and is from Strabane, she isn't 100% sure what line of work she would like to go into but she knows she wants a career in the business sector.
Zara became interested in the YE project as she wants a career in business and so the experience would be worthwhile.
... When we asked her about what she thought the biggest challenge had been so far she said: "Our biggest challenge so far has been taking part in St Georges Market in Belfast due to there being so much competition."
She then when onto say that "The most important thing I have learned about business so far is that you need a good team of people working together in all aspects if you want your business to succeed."
We asked Zara if she would encourage people to take part in the YE project, she had this to say: "I would definitely encourage other young people to take part in the programme as it is a great experience and you learn a lot more about business as you have a hands on experience compared to in the classroom."
When Zara is away from her studies and working in Sales at Baby Essentials she likes to go out and spend time with her friends.

Today Baby Essentials would like you to meet our head of IT, Harry!
Harry McCrossan is 17 and from Lifford, he wants to pursue a career path in either graphics & digital design or photography as he has a strong interest in these areas and would love to make a living from either of them.
Harry became interested in the project as he was curious to know what the project involved and he wanted to see what it was like to run an actual business and get a bit of insight into what a...ctually goes into running a business.
Harry had this to say about his role as head of IT: "My role within the company is ICT which involves creating graphics for the company’s social media and for marketing and advertising. I also take photos at each of the trade events that we attend as a company and manage the company Instagram."
We asked Harry about what he thought the biggest challenge was to date: "I think the biggest challenge so far with the company has been transporting our products to each of the trade events as they are quite large"
He went on to say: "The most important thing that I have probably learned so far about the world of business is that running a company like we are requires a large amount of commitment and time to be able to get tasks done on time and keep things moving efficiently, however when it results in success then it is very rewarding."
Harry said that the 3 main things he thought Baby Essentials had to do to get the hampers off the ground were: "making good use of social media to get our product out there and let the public know who we are, handing out business cards and flyers as well as connecting with potential consumers through the events that we attend."
Harry had this to say about the YE program: "I would recommend doing the company programme, but I would warn that it takes commitment from the start and can become very time consuming. I would also recommend doing it if you have an interest in running business in the future or if you’re just curious to see how it all works like I was."

Next up for you to meet is a member of our sales team Rebekah.
Rebekah Coyle is 17 and from Strabane, she wants to pursue a career in the health sector and she has a particular interest in midwifery.
Rebekah told us that she became interested in the Young Enterprise project as she is "very passionate about business studies and enjoy studying it at school. I was keen to see what the project involved and gain an insight into what the running of a business entails."
... When asked about her role in the company Rebekah had this to say: "My role in the company is a Sales Representative, which involves promoting our business and informing customers about our products and what we do. I am involved in any selling of products or taking any orders which may be requested."
She added: "The most important thing I have learnt about the business so far would be that teamwork is essential in the running of a business as everyone has to communicate with each other to ensure we are all on track and production runs efficiently. This takes a lot of time and commitment."
We asked Rebekah about what 3 aspects of business she thought we at Baby Essentials had to do to get our hampers off the ground, she answered: "Our team had to do a lot of advertising and promotion to make people aware of our business, we done this by making social media accounts such as a Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter account and invited people to like them and word spread fast. Our business needed start up capital to help us buy materials to create our product, each member of our business invested money and this helped us get things running."
Rebekah recommends the Young Enterprise project as it is "interesting" and enjoyable" she further said "It involves a lot of hard work and commitment, however the outcome is so rewarding and you gain valuable experience which may be beneficial if you are interested in pursuing a career in business."

As we begin our build up to our trade event at Foyleside on the 9th February and we are going to be introducing you to the team members here at Baby Essentials. First up is Jake...
Jake Hendly is 16 and is from Strabane, he is the Marketing Director at Baby Essentials managing our social media and ensuring we are meeting our 7 P's of marketing (Product, Price, Place, Promotion, Process, Physical and People).
Jake wants to pursue a career in the cyber security sector as he en...joys working with computers.
When we asked Jake what has been the biggest challenge with running Baby Essentials so far he said this: "When we go to trade fairs most of the customers didn’t need a baby hamper. Attracting the target market was our hardest challenge in my opinion."
He further stated: "Money doesn’t grow on trees. I realized when we started Baby Essentials that we needed to fund raise and put our own money into our start up capital to start producing the hampers."
We asked Jake what 3 things he thought the team had to do to get our baby hampers off the ground... he said: "First, we had to advertise our products all over social media and grow our pages. Once we done that we went around trade fairs and sold these products. People said good things about them and through word of mouth other people were interested in our hampers."
Jake has said that you should give the Young Enterprise program a go, "you having nothing to lose and only experience to gain."
Jake has 2 older brothers and a little sister, he enjoys watching films and has a dog named Milly.
