Neil Verner DipLCM(TD) is a locally based a
Piano and music theory tutor. I strive for excellence in a fun, relaxed, learning environment.

Who am I
My name is Neil Verner and I am a piano tutor based in the Craigavon / Banbridge area. I have a DipLCM in teaching from the University of West London.

I currently tutor piano in Dromore School of Music, Banbridge High School and private students.
My current students range from beginner up to Grade 5.

Exams
My primary focus as a tutor is to work towards graded examinations. These exams range from Preparatory - Grade 8 level and take place during three sessions throughout the year. These are Autumn, Spring and Summer. They take place at a variety of centres including Dromore and Portadown. When a student completes an exam they will receive a certificate awarded by London College of Music.
I am keen to make sure that the student is competent at playing at the level in which they are studying.

Does my child have to do exams?

Some students choose to play for pleasure and do not wish to follow the examination route this is another possibility. However I do feel that it is important for students to work towards a goal such as a recital, festival or leisure play examination.


Anything else
I seek to be a forward thinking tutor and have recently incorporated basic composition into my lessons. This not only enhances theory skills but I also use it as a way of building sight reading skills.
Technology is also an important element of teaching today and I use a variety of iPad applications to develop musical skills and enjoyment.
