Newry Academy of Music was established to promote and develop musical education provision in the Newry and Mourne area. Its aims are to create a stimulating environment in which to explore and develop musical ability, and enrich the education of its students through the study and practice of music.

What do we offer?
The Academy offers a range of opportunities which fully explore musical potential. Private lessons are available for both Piano and Theory, in which accredited grades can be studied.

Kindermusik
Newry Academy of Music is also delighted to introduce Kindermusik to the Newry and Mourne area. Kindermusik, a music and movement programme, is used as a tool to help children as young as six months develop not only musically, but encourages freedom and creativity, develops socio-emotional skills and contributes to the development of the whole child.

Who are we?
Niamh Burns is the director of Newry Academy of Music. Beginning formal lessons at the age of four, Niamh studied both classical and Irish traditional music for many years, and her music studies continued to university level, graduating with a First Class Honours in the Bachelor of Music degree from Queen's University Belfast, and a Distinction at Master's level a year later from the same institution.

Niamh has been teaching music in the Newry and Mourne area for over seven years. Her teaching experience goes far beyond the piano studio, having been involved in music education at pre-school, primary and secondary school level.

Niamh is also a licensed Kindermusik educator, and is pleased to introduce Kindermusik to the Newry and Mourne area for the first time. For information on Kindermusik, please visit our Kindermusik section.
