NHIP stands for The Neighbourhood Health Improvement Project. It covers 8 specific areas in Derry, Strabane and Limavady. Our primary objective is to help each area improve their health and well-being.

The Neighbourhood Health Improvement Project (NHIP) is a Neighbourhood Renewal project with funding from the Department for Social Development (DSD) and Public Health Agency (PHA) through the Weste
rn Investing for Health Partnership (WIFH). NHIP commenced on 1 October 2009 and will run to 31 March 2011.

The aim of NHIP is to develop an integrated and collaborative approach to addressing health improvement across all eight Neighbourhood Renewal Areas (NRAs) in the geography covered by the WHSCT by developing a process to enable communities in each Neighbourhood Renewal Area to improve their health and well-being.

ST PATRICK'S DAY 5K RUN IN STRABANE What a very sucessful and well organised event. NHIP funded the event which was held in the Melvin Leisure Centre in Strabane. We had 342 participants cross over the finish line (this did not include the kids fun run before hand), a very well done to each and everyone of you.... This run was to encourage everyone of all ages to get up and out no matter if it is to either walk, jog, or run it was all about the community getting together to ...improve their health and wellbeing.
The main race itself was in around the centre of the town and it provided a great opportunity for the local residents to come out and support the people who in turn supported our local charity – THE COMMUNITY RESCUE GROUP. The event was in conjunction with Strabane & District Caring Services, Derry City & Strabane District Council, O’Neills, Sigersons GAA and the local sports clubs.
