Sinn FÃĐin councillor in the area, JJ Magee “warned of the dangers of illegal drugs after a man died and others were left in a serious condition in hospital”.
He added: “News of a suspected drug-related death over the weekend is deeply worrying. This death is an absolute tragedy for the family and friends of man and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult time. “I also wish the others currently in hospital a full recovery.
... “I would appeal to anyone not to take illegal drugs or anything they are unsure about. And if anyone has taken anything or becomes concerned about a friend who has taken something, they should seek medical help immediately.
“I am calling one everyone to remain cautious and vigilant in the face of this problem, and to share any information they may have with the relevant legal and drug authorities.”

Remembering the rebels of 100 years ago this Gaelic Sunday ✊🏞
A century ago, Britain tried to crush our culture by effectively banning Gaelic games.
The people of Ireland defied them in the best way possible, by playing our games in their tens of thousands.
... Today, on Gaelic Sunday, celebrate all that is good and positive about our games, our culture and our people. 🏐

There was a handbag stolen from a car on Antrim rd this morning, near the Duncairn centre. It’s an unusual tan leather bag with a clasp used to open it. Can local residents please keep an eye out and contact us if they see anything. It is of sentimental value to owner.

Sinn FÃĐin MLA CarÃĄl Ní Chuilín has hit out at loyalist paramilitaries after a mother, whose son died tragically only days ago, was threatened and ordered to leave her home in North Belfast.
Only hours after the threats her home was attacked and her windows smashed.
The North Belfast MLA said:
... “Police have confirmed that the loyalist paramilitary group, the UFF, threatened a woman and ordered her to leave her home in Oldpark today.
“Only hours later her home was attacked and the windows of her home were smashed.
“These shameful and depraved actions were carried in the full knowledge that her son, who died tragically last Thursday, was due to be waked from the family home.
“These sickening actions must be condemned by all and the criminals responsible should pack up and get off the backs of the community.
“The continued existence of these armed groups is a blight on society.
“The PSNI needs to intensify its efforts remove the scourge of loyalist paramilitaries from our society.
“I would urge anyone with information on today’s incident to bring it forward to the police.”
CarÃĄl Ní Chuilin has also contacted the Housing Executive and called on them to ensure the family gets emergency accommodation.

Glengormley SF Cllr Michael Goodman has welcomed today's decision by the Civil Service not to appeal the recent judgement on the Hightown incinerator & the role of civil servants as the only sensible decision. "Thankfully residents of Mallusk, Glengormley and Newtownabbey are now able to get on with their lives without the fear that this incinerator proposal imposed on them. Arc21 now need to begin assessing alternative methods of dealing with waste, including better recycling and reuse."
