About Northern Visions Nvtv Belfast

Northern Visions Digital Arts & Media Centre & Local Public Service Television Station in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Founded in 1986.

Northern Visions Nvtv Belfast Description

We're an arts and digital media centre and local television broadcaster based in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter.

We work with groups involved in the arts, culture and local heritage, media literacy and education, community development, urban regeneration and community relations. Our vision is of a democratised form of media where new technologies are utilised as a tool for expression and creativity, to effect social change and combat poverty, social exclusion and isolation.

In 2012, Northern Visions won the bid to Ofcom for the licence to broadcast local television in Belfast. We broadcast on Freeview Channel 7 and Virgin 159 - local news, current affairs, a wide range of creative, educational, entertaining programming and widen the community’s involvement in broadcasting by encouraging active citizenship in making programming, inclusive of all under-represented communities. Northern Visions is a non-profit distributing company limited by guarantee.
