About Nua Kombucha

NUA Kombucha, manufactured in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. A refreshing alternative to conventional soft drinks, packed full of antioxidants. Kombucha is an ancient raw fermented tea beverage, made by adding a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) to a solution of tea and sugar. During the fermentation process, the cultures metabolize the sugar and tea components resulting in a naturally carbonated beverage, with a slightly sweet-tart flavour, full of healthy components like B vitamins, organic acids, antioxidants, and trace amounts of alcohol. The product is unpasteurised (can often be referred to as "raw"), this ensures that the healthy yeast and bacteria remain in the bottled product. Our Kombucha is based on blends of the South African Rooibos Tea, brewed locally in County Antrim (Northern Ireland), providing a unique tasting beverage with health benefits. This family recipe was handed down through several generations from the Central /Northern Cape region of South Africa. NUA originated not only from the desire to have a great tasting and refreshing drink, but equally important to have great functional properties derived from the selected ingredients. The health benefits, largely associated with the anti-oxidants found in Rooibos are well documented and provided an obvious choice for the NUA team and its goal of optimum health. Rooibos is a naturally caffeine free product.
