Our Children - Your Future

Its time to think about the future of education in our rural area.

Our Children - Your future is a vision. This vision was envisaged by The North West Education action group which was formed on the back of a proposal to close our local rural post-primary school St. Marys High school, Brollagh, Belleek, Co. Fermanagh, N. Ireland. We as a community faced the prospect of having to send all our children to school anywhere between an hour and two hour bus ride (single) away. . . this quickly became more than a battle to save our school, it has become a fight to preserve the future of the very core of our community. . our children. Should we lose the option to educate our children locally the very fabric of who we are as a community will be fundamentally torn. . a tear that would be more or less impossible to repair. It is imperative that each and every one of us in this community and other communities worldwide ask ourselves the question. . 'what will happen my community should this happen?'. . the answer should be clear and should remain close to your heart. Be it our community or yours wherever you are think not of today but think of tomorrow. . think of your children. . their grandchildren. . give them the future. . give them choice. . . give them belonging. . . we are going to start by making sure local education belongs to us, to our children and the children of the future.
