Betty Williams 1943-2020
Today one of our founder members Betty Williams will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery. Thank you Betty for initiating with Mairead Maguire and Ciaran Mc Keown the long road to peace. Your vision of peace has become today's reality.
It’s with great sadness that we advise of the passing of one of our great founder members Betty Williams. Betty Williams with Mairead Corrigan Maguire and Ciaran Mc Keown formed the Peace People in 1976. Our deepest sympathy goes to her daughter Debbie & son Paul and extended family.
Mairead Maguire said:
“It is with the greatest sadness that I heard of the death of my friend and co-worker for peace Betty Williams. Betty was a woman of great courage with a passion for peace and a love and compassion for all children. Betty will be sadly missed but remembered lovingly by all of us who knew Betty. I felt privileged to know her as a great peace activist and friend"
