To the staff... my physio colleagues, the nurses who worked so hard, the theatre staff, the surgeons, and all the other staff who made this trip happen. I could not have asked for a better team of people to share this experience with. You are the most caring and hardworking humans I have met. A special thank you to Niamh and Claire who without this trip wouldn’t have happened. I have made so many friends and with luck we will meet again next year. Have safe travel onwards. Had the most incredible time volunteering with operation walk Ireland this year. The video below shows a lady who I grew very attached to. She has had bilateral knee replacements and pre-op had not walked in a year. Her husband had been carrying her on his back for that time. Here she is a few days post-op after going through a huge operation and tolerating us physios doing her exercises and mobility practice with her. She is such a strong woman and has been through so much a...lready, and look at her determination! We had to actually stop her from going further as she just wanted to keep going! I definitely shed a tear when saying goodbye to her. I have taken away so much of this trip and made such good friends. Working with such an incredible group of people who are all the most caring humans you could ever meet, even when exhausted! Thanks to everyone who donated, this is the result, so well done you. I’m just sad I can’t follow through with this ladies rehab but I know the next group are the best and will look after her.

So that’s a rap for 2018!!! Well done to everyone who has taken part this year, I have seen a marked improvement in strength and flexibility! The new term will start back on January 8th so enjoy a few weeks off!!

It’s World Osteoporosis Day! So here is a picture of me doing a handstand to promote wrist strength. Wrists are one of the top areas common to fractures so let’s start strengthening them up 💪 handstands are not required!
