Poetry Ni Description
Welcome to POETRY NI. We're passionate about poetry, especially from within Northern Ireland. Set up in February 2014, evolving from various separate ventures, Poetry NI is a multimedia, multi-platform showcase and resource provider for poets, run by Geraldine O'Kane and Colin Dardis. We showcase great writing through readings, open mics, poetry slams, online and print publishing, outreach, competitions, workshops and more.
We currently run four ongoing projects:
PURELY POETRY: our monthly live poetry night in the Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast.
FOURXFOUR: our quarterly online poetry journal, showcasing four poets in each issue.
PEN POINTS PRESS: our poetry micropress, publishing chapbooks and broadsides.
PANNING FOR POEMS: a micropoetry broadside, designed to print out, fold up, and fit in your pocket.
We also organise readings, projects and workshops from time to time, and help facilitate various events for local festivals and organisations. We've worked with the likes of Belfast Book Festival, Aspects Literary Festival, Open Arts, Arts & Disability Forum, Crescent Arts Centre, Newcastle Arts Festival, Stendhal Festival and more.
