A member of our team is waking up today, likely in a fair bit of pain, but thankfully alive following an unbelievable incident down at the Harbour in Carnlough during the early hours.
He was out on patrol around 1am as part of a reassurance response to community concerns when a silver Jeep caught his attention close to the slipway. He positioned his unmarked police car in front of the suspect vehicle and just as he was attempting to get out to have a chat with the occupants, ...the Jeep rammed his car almost pushing it into the water.
The Jeep then made off at speed and was later found abandoned. Remarkably our guy tried to follow but had to abandon his efforts due to the extensive damage that had been caused to the police vehicle.
That’s the end of the story….for now. The Jeep will be forensically examined and we are following a number of lines of enquiry to identify the driver and the passenger but in the meantime if anyone has information that could help us then give us a shout.
What happened here was absolutely reckless and could have ended up much worse for our colleague. We wish him a speedy recovery!

We have a lot of people on line reporting an assault at Union Hall Place in Derry/Londonderry last night. This has not yet been reported but there is a video circulating showing a pretty nasty assault. If you see something like this please please please ring 999 at the time. If you saw a house on fire you wouldn’t message NIFRS, likewise if you see an assault don’t message us, RING 999!!! The victim has walked away from this one but remember that one punch can kill. There are various ways you can contact us in PSNI Contact Management, online reporting is fine for slow time, 101 for normal reporting and 999 where there is a threat to life or an ongoing crime. Please don’t message us on Social Media to report crimes, these are good to chat on but we might miss out on vital evidence if you don’t tell us straight away!!! Evening folks,
Ballymena Police were dealing with a road traffic collision on the North bound carriageway of the Crankill Road, just before the Applegreen services. This happened around 1820 hours and involved two vehicles. Fortunately no-one was seriously hurt but Police would request that any person who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of it, please get in touch via the 101 number and quote reference 1067 of 17/02/19 for the attention of Con Sam Trainor.

I don’t get the mindset of someone who would peg out carcasses of game birds in order to poison wildlife but that is exactly what someone has done at woodlands in Derry/Londonderry. We will be having these examined to find out what surprises have been left on the carcasses and other raw meat but the current popular poisons used for Wildlife crime are toxic to humans and potentially fatal to children, it beggars belief that these have been left in a public place where kids could pick them up. An investigation has commenced, the reference number is CCS 1208 16/2/19 anyone with any information please ring 101 #wildlifecrime #PSNIWildlifeCrime Sgt Sam #PSNICMC

There will be a short parade in the town centre this morning to celebrate the Chinese New Year. This will cause some delays for town centre traffic between 11.00 and 11.30. If you are in town this morning come along and watch the parade which starts at the Harmony Hub at 11.00.

As some of you may already be aware No Hate Here was launched in Ballymena in March last year. This is a joint initiative with the Mid & East Antrim PCSP the Mid and East Antrim Borough Council and the Inter Ethnic Forum
We are going to be launching No Hate Here campaign across Larne and Carrick
This initiative is aiming to encourage local businesses and organizations to support those who had been victims of a hate crime, signpost them to support services and encourage rep...orting.

Busy day ahead!
I have a meeting with Superintendent Jones and Chief Inspector Humphries to discuss district performance, engagement and generally how things are going.
Yesterday I asked you to provide comments to our newest recruits. Now you get to go straight to the top.
... Why not have your say and tell us what we can do better as we plan for the month's ahead.
