More travel disruption this morning

M1 at a standstill between Portadown and Moira city bound, and from Moira to Lurgan country bound with reported closure of Lurgan and Moira junctions due to an "incident". Air Ambulance in attendance.

Around 200 people of all ages turned up at the Civic Centre tonight for the Deputy Lord Mayor’s LGBTQ+ event. It was humbling to hear particularly from the young people in our community who face mental and physical abuse on a weekly basis and the mental health issues that go hand in hand with it. Thankfully there are several agencies offering support, guidance and counselling to people of all ages who need it. We are happy to put you in contact with someone and you can contact us confidentially by PM.

It's been an amazing 5 years today since we opened the doors of the first Portadown Cares charity shop in the High Street Mall (where Peacocks is now), and what an exciting 5 years it has been!!!
We owe a massive thanks to the Mall management who have been so supportive and generous to us during this time, to all of our volunteers who give up their time to help out in the shop, and the local community for all of their donations and purchases. Everything we do goes back into o...ur local community, in our opinion charity begins at home, and for us that's Portadown!
Special thanks today to a very good friend and supporter of PC, Mark Baxter, who came to wish us well on our 5th birthday. Mark performed our official opening back in 2013 when he was Mayor, and has remained a close friend ever since. Thank you again Mark, we greatly appreciate your support and encouragement!

Just a quick update on the little pup that was thrown from the car yesterday morning.
Our committee member Lauren and Jonny who found her were heading to the airport when they saw the incident take place at 5.36 yesterday morning. They immediately stopped the car and went to rescue the abandoned pup. They initially panicked as they were running late for their flight and didn't want to wake anyone at that time of the morning so decided to bring the pup back to the house, leave... it some food, water and a blanket and then ring someone at a more respectable hour to care for it.
They rang Lauren's workmate when they got to the airport and she kept the pup until Jonny's sister Angela was able to come and collect it.
Angela is currently fostering the pup (now called Storm) until Lauren and Jonny return from holiday and has had her at the vet today for a check-up. The pup is fit and healthy (although the vet thinks it is only about 7 weeks old), she is playing happily, loves attention, cuddles, kisses - and shoes!!!
We hope you enjoy this video of her playing happily in her foster home and we are also pleased to say that we paid a visit to a local business beside where the pup was dumped today and had the privilege of viewing another video, their CCTV has the incident recorded! Getting worried yet 'ladies'???

Two of Portadown's finest 'ladies' decided to throw this little one from their car in the early hours of this morning on the Tandragee Road. Poor little thing is only about 9 or 10 weeks old and was terrified! Luckily one of our committee members witnessed the incident and the pup was rescued and taken to safety. Sleep well tonight 'ladies' 😡😡😡
UPDATE - We posted this to raise awareness, at the minute the pup is not available for rehoming!
