Always wanted to do this and it didn't disappoint, good value
Great to see the new ferry up and running. Nice staff.
Unless you've got your own boat, this is your only way to Rathlin. Both the ferries have indoor and outdoor seating. The slower ferry gave plenty of time to take in the views, while the express ferry was a bit more of an experience due to a rougher sea.
Ferry serving the Ballycastle-Rathlin Island route. They recommend that you book online (you can only do this up to 24 hours before you plan to travel). However, we turned up on the day (Wednesday), about 30 minutes before the ferry and managed to get a place. Tickets were £12 return per person. Journey is about 25-35 minutes and the last ferry back to Ballycastle is at 17:30 pm so head over there early to give yourselves plenty of time to look around the island.
The only way to see the fantastic Rathlin Island. Make sure you book in advance. Cars are not normally transported (there are special circumstances - speak with the office). Sometimes cancelled due to weather conditions. Other than that, this is a great service; regular, pleasant and well worth the price of travelling. Ensure you enjoy the views of the harbour on arrival and, watch out for wales , basking sharks, dolphins, porpoises, and seabirds, like puffin, razorbill, guillemot, black guillemot, fulmar and gannets on the journey, as well as a plethora of gulls.
It was a very pleasant sail. There's seating inside and out so you can feel the salt air on your face. Staff very pleasant.
Efficient timings & lovely views as well
The only way to get to a great place.
