I spent a lovely afternoon with this gorgeous little girl and her mummy. Nearly two years ago she made her entrance into the world on her terms. Her parents had planned a homebirth but she had other ideas and was born by caesarean. However it was a positive experience for this mother because she had empowered herself with knowledge, she was listened to, respected and heard. The decisions were made with her, and today she still glows as she recounts her birth.

Feeling touched to have been part of a beautiful Mother’s Blessing today. Witnessing a mother in waiting surrounded by her own mother, doula and closest friends as they celebrate her through shared tales of love, laughter and friendship is very special. Our wool bracelets are a precious reminder of the circle of trust created to honour this amazing woman today 💕 #blessingway #mothersblessing #empoweredwomenempowerwomen #birthwithoutfear #homebirthbaby #circleoftrust #honouringmotherhood

Saying goodbye after an amazing holiday with my family in Japan whilst Jo has kept everything running smoothly with RM at home. The beauty of this country and its people has been incredible, we have experienced so many wonderful things. Amongst which I couldn’t help noticing how few strollers you see as most babies seem to be held close by their parents in slings 🌸💕🌸 #familytime #japan #kyoto #Tokyo #cherryblossom #goldenpavilion #babywearing

So I said goodbye to this beautiful family last week. It has been wonderful to support them on this journey into parenthood. From the outset she knew home was where she wanted to welcome her son into the world. Her birth was powerful and fast on a stormy afternoon, yet she conquered it with determination, and strength with the support, love and tenderness of her partner, an amazing connection to witness #womenareamazing #birthathome #positivebirth #empoweredwomenempowerwomen #birthwithoutfear #homebirthbaby #2019babies #knowyourmidwife #continuityofcare

No matter how or where you give birth you might like to consider how you want that room to be, and who or what you want to be in it. PBM April topic is ‘My Birth Room’ and Positive Birth Movement Windsor will be discussing it at their monthly meet up on 13th April.

I have had such a lovely day catching up with this little poppet and her wonderful parents. She was born on one of the hottest days last summer into her mother’s arms at home, it was a beautiful birth. Today reminded me how lucky I am to be able to work In a way that builds relationships that will always be there....not that it ever feels like work 💕

Last night as the rain thrashed down outside a strong, amazing woman welcomed her firstborn into the world. It was wonderful to witness that beautiful unhurried moment as she gazed down at her baby for the first time, almost in disbelief, where time seemed suspended between the power of birth and the new life beneath her. No rush, no fuss, undisturbed, that moment was hers to cherish #birthpause

The language we use around women in pregnancy, birth and parenthood is crucial. It can help build a mother’s confidence and shape her experiences but it can also do untold damage. Think carefully what message and value your words carry, choose them wisely.......... sometimes simply being warm, attentive and open, allowing your body to do the talking can speak volumes

🌸Honouring the Placenta🌸 This amazing unique organ also known as the Tree of Life is your baby’s lifeline in the womb. It has a multitude of incredible functions that provide your baby with everything they need to grow during pregnancy. It is the only organ that is made to be disposable, however some choose not to discard it after their baby is born and honour it in the following ways: 💐 Lotus Birth 🌷Making a tincture 👀 looking at it... ☘️ Encapsulate it 🌿Smoothie 📷 Photograph it 🌺Have it turned into jewellery 🌻 Umbilical cord keepsake 🌳 Plant it under a tree 🌈 Turn it into an artwork Thank you to @nurturethegoddess for permission to use this beautiful photo🙏🏽
