Rockview Cottge Description

Millisle is approximately 17 miles from Belfast with its theatres, concert halls and restaurants.

The seventeenth century market town of Newtownards is well worth a visit with its many Georgian buildings to explore. You can visit the Somme Heritage Centre and perhaps pay a visit to Scrabo Tower with excellent views across the North Down area and beyond.

The Ards Peninsula has many attractions, including the fishing village of Portavogie, the National Trust village of Kearney close to the town of Portaferry where Northern Ireland's aquarium is sited. You can take a ten minute trip on the car ferry from Portaferry to Strangford to explore this area and maybe visit the National Trust property of Castle Ward.

Another National Trust property not to be missed is Mount Stewart. The subtropical gardens are world famous and well worth a visit. Mount Stewart stands along the coast road on the shores of Strangford Lough famous for its wildlife.

Two miles from Millisle is Donaghadee with its lighthouse. From here you can take a boat trip to the Copeland Islands which are now a bird sanctuary.

There are numerous good restaurants and cafes in the Ards area where local sea food is plentiful.
