About Roslea
Rosslea or Roslea is a small village in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, near the border with County Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland. It stands on the River Finn and is beset by small natural lakes. Roslea Forest is nearby. In the 2001 Census it had a population of 554 people. TransportUlsterbus route 95C provides a commuter service to Enniskillen with one journey to the county town in the morning returning in the evening. There is no service on Saturdays and Sundays. Onward connections are available at Enniskillen. Due to proposed cuts to bus services route 95C may be withdrawn in 2015. HistoryOn 22 March 1921, during the Irish War of Independence, the Irish Republican Army (IRA) launched attacks on the homes of Ulster Special Constabulary (USC) officers in the Roslea (Rosslea) area. Three USC officers were killed. When news of these killings reached Belfast, gunfire broke out in the York Street area and a Catholic civilian was killed.
