Self-Defence And Martial-Arts Institute Belfast

After 11 years of martial arts training I think it’s time I stepped in the cage. On September 29th I will be competing in an MMA fight at a black tie event at the crowne plaza hotel, shaws bridge. I’m very excited about it and it’s given me something positive to work towards. I am also doing this to raise as much money as I can for cancer research. Several friends have also been affected by cancer so I am doing this for them.

Had the pleasure of visiting Street Smart Academy of Martial Arts to teach some stick fighting to Sensei Jude Mcilwaine. Jude and I learn from each other. He’s a very talented martial artist and I would recommend anyone to check out his academy and learn from him. 🙏🏼

To everyone who attends classes or those who can’t attend Wednesday. What we have available is an online training platform. I completely understand that 2 hours a week for some people isn’t enough so we have an online archive that you can use when you’re not at class.

It’s filled with a large archive of video instruction on material that we cover in class and you can have access for the low cost of €35 (£30) a year for 1 SAMICS system. Different optio...ns are also available. It’s more than just an online training platform. It’s also your membership to SAMI international which you will need if you wish to grade through the curriculum. Being a member also gives you access to a number of benefits.
If you sign up make sure you set up your account data and list SAMI Belfast as your training centre and Stefán Fraser as your trainer.

Training includes: stand-up and ground striking and grappling, boxing, kickboxing, using the whole body as a weapon, street defence, body manipulation and destruction concepts, takedowns, trapping, weapon handling, knife fighting, knife defence, stick fighting, point fighting, police and security techniques, MMA based drills, pad training, sensitivity and flow drills, sparring and pressure testing/stress training, a structured curriculum and grading system.

For parking you can park in College Street after 6PM
2 separate classes on the evening
6:15PM - Panantukan 7:15PM - Weekly roatation between Knife Fighting and Stick Fighting
£5 - 1 class (1 hour) £25 - block of 6 classes (Save £5) £40 - Block of 10 classes (Save £10)
Private lessons also available at £20 per hour. Bring a friend and get a discount rate of £15 per person.
Everyone is welcome. You do not need previous experience in martial arts. You do not need to be in shape. A comfortable friendly environment is provided for all students.
Improve general fitness and confidence whilst making new friends and learning practical skills for street self-protection and combat sports.
