Sharing Our Space is a £3. 1m, three year initiative, funded through the EU PEACE III Programme under Priority 2: Contributing to a Shared Society, Theme 1: Creating Shared Public Spaces.

Sharing Our Space Description

The programme is co-ordinated by Groundwork NI and will be delivered in seven localities in partnership with stakeholders in each area.
The areas targeted are:
• Newtownbutler (Co Fermanagh)-Multi Use Games Area
• Rasharkin (Co Antrim)- Multi Use Games Area
• Ballynahinch (Co Down)-Landscaping & Football Park improvements
• Castleblayney (Co Monaghan)-Adventure Play Park
• Colin Glen (West Belfast)-Community Allotments
• Black’s Road (West Belfast)-Creation of a Public Park on derelict land
• Westland (North Belfast)- Multi Use Games Area
The programme is scheduled to run from May 2011 to April 2014.
The Sharing Our Space programme has two key elements:
1. A programme of training and development that supports people in each of these seven localities in developing their agenda and programme for shared space.
2. A capital programme that will resource and implement the transformation of seven derelict and contentious sites to new shared spaces.
