Gorgeous property in scenic Northern Ireland. Rooms feature seaside views and common areas are appointed with wood burning fireplaces. Service is impeccable. Nearby Slieve Donard is a great hike and offers great views of the countryside. Newcastle is an interesting little town with loads of shops and decent restaurants. The Spa at Slieve Donard is also great, offering a variety of services. Highly recommend for a weekend getaway or those wishing to spend some time in the Irish countryside
Wish we had more time here. There's a spa, so bring your suit and enjoy. Gorgeous area. Very comfortable rooms (we had a spa room).
Had a lovely walk around the grounds. Didn't stay at the hotel itself, but had a wonderful coffee and bagel with salmon and soft cheese in the spa coffee lounge for £9.Had a walk around the lobby and ground floor. All looked nice but a bit dated. Less than 1 minute walk to the sand n sea from the entrance. Its more of a pebble sand and sea, not recommended for swimming but a nice stroll. Its about 2 minutes to the high street. Great view of the mountains. A nice place to spend a few hours.
First and only visit. Had high expectations. Expensive++ In Resort Room. Space economised/challenged, though did have safe, and general facilities. Long wait for breakfast. Complaint not handled well when overlooked. Staff clearing food away before we started breakfast.Room service during 3night stay left a lot to be desired. One room service during period. Standards not of a quality to match the ambience of the building and its surrounds.
Yeah it's a 5 star hotel and earns every star. It's the kind of place where you walk in and immediately know you're not good enough to be there and yet the staff treat you like a king.
Food is tasted, pints are more expensive than I've seen anywhere else in Newcastle but I suppose that's to keep the rifraf out...
Spa was lovely and all was clean. Beautiful views. Not from my room tho but then I didn't ask for a view.
I attended a wedding at Slieve Donard and it was gorgeous, staff were all lovely and attentive! The grounds and the view of the sea from the function room was amazing. Would definitely go back for a stay.
We go here regularly. For those looking a quiet coffee shop, there is one just to the rear of the hotel. They should promote it more. Stunning Views of the Mountains through large windows . Great for just relaxing on a cool day .
Lovely venue and situation. The staff were most helpful and accommodating. Also the spa facilities were truly excellent. On the downside the room was very hot and the sound proofing very poor, resulting in a poor nights sleep with raucous guests from a wedding singing until 2am.
We have visited the Slieve Donard for the past three years - each time we have a very enjoyable visit. The staff are polite , helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them - their attitude & efforts make the holiday that much better. The actual hotel is absolutely beautiful , rooms are stunning - worth paying extra to get one with a sea view. The area is beautiful - so much to see and do. If you are feeling energetic then a climb to the top of Slieve Donard is a must followed by a relaxing jacuzzi in the hotel.
A stay in this hotel is highly recommended - especially if you can get a good deal on a room.
