For parents of teens with T1... this is a brilliant insight into the advice and support a T1 educator & paediatric psychologist specialising in this transition area helps families with on a daily basis. Really insightful!

It’s just so frustrating that I get them and others elsewhere don’t. And I’m so glad I’m not in the Rep. Of Ireland where it seems the HSE think adults with Type 1 don’t need them?!

Just love starting the weekend to an update as positive as this from The Faustman Lab! The BCG is an amazing vaccine. They've discovered too that it is helping those with Type 2 process glucose better (as opposed to that horrific procedure we were reading about this week where a person with insulin resistance can have there small intestines burned internally to stop them absorbing some glucose!). Keep up the good work #TeamFaustman

All you lovely folk down at home in the Rep. Of Ireland... get those letters to your TD's. A life with a Libre is liberating... honestly. My a1c has improved because I can see very quickly in the analysis on screen the zones of the day I need a little more focus on. I can see when my trends are running higher very easily so I can confidently up my basal (background) insulin. I pump, and use Fiasp and it's even easier for me to change my basal.
You really need this in bit ...of diabetes tech. The freedom it give you can't be described. Is it a pain to wear? Not at all anymore. Initially, I was worried that it would be a visible part to my condition. But most of that worry is more about me accepting what I have as opposed to anyone else thinking less of me. I don't even pay mine any attention other than scanning. I'm back running again like before I was diagnosed over 20 years ago and I feel more free now than I have in all this time.

Thank you so much for your lovely review Liezel! ★★★★★ "Excellent customer service and especially lovely that Mary understands T1 diabetes, and its challenges, personally. The sleeve is just the thing for protecting my son’s Libré sensor. Shipping was super-fast as well and I cannot recommend this shop highly enough. Liezel

My morning run is the best way I can exercise without any of the challenges that Type 1 normally throws into the mix. I get a quick coffee, no breakfast, no insulin and I’m away. My bgs are stable throughout the run and I just have a small glass of milk (100mls) when I get back in to keep them stable... and the rest of the days just falls into place.
My head isn’t burdened by the complexity of fitting in an exercise class some where in the day or evening, how my bgs will cop...e when there’s still insulin on board, or if I’m too high - will I continue to rise? WilI need to bring an apple juice or packet of glucose tablets with me?
The human body is an incredible machine. Running like this improves your declining ability to burn fat for fuel as well as carbs for fuel as you grow older. The more carb loaded your body is, the more insulin acts like a lock and doesn’t allow your fat stores to be released for energy.
If you eat carbs before exercise in the morning, and when the brain ‘sees’ the insulin in your blood, it knows you have easily accessible energy to use first. But once that energy runs out it’s the ability to switch to fat burning mode (like a car going from petrol to diesel) becomes much harder especially as we get older or put on weight.
A fat fuelled marathon runner doesn’t ‘hit the wall’ like carb loaded ones do...
So delighted reading this...

This little guy will bring down my a1c that little bit more! Can’t wait! Bring on #libre2 I can see so many benefits for us with #T1 and busy lives. It’s great having the ability to work and scan quickly but I know myself that the reminders to scan are annoying when everything is ok. And imagine if someone with #type2 was wearing it? They’d ‘see’ SO clearly how certain foods knocked them out of range. Really helps them for food choices.
