Throw back Thursday! My own first foster and the start of an addiction for teaching tiny pound pups that life is fun! Pm us if youd like to change little lives.

User

Back to school isnt just for humans! 3 of our foster mama's all took up agility this year. Here what they have to say.
"We haven’t been to agility in weeks, but on a Sunday around 12 Rebel leans against the front door and barges a bit. She wants to know why our bag hasn’t been packed, why she hasn’t witnessed the treats being prepared and why her harness isn’t on yet. She hasn’t been a fan of the summer break in agility classes. Rebel girl lives her high-energy life flat ...out, everything is full speed, all the time! Agility has really helped calm her, she realises sometimes you have to sit and wait for your turn. It is great for us both, mentally and physically, it is great craic and we have met loads of lovely people and clever pups. We can’t wait to get back at it!" "Mya is my whippet/husky mix. All legs and enthusiasm! She's a SDFR girl who couldnt walk when she came to us. She now jumps the highest jumps and loves our weekly class. I initially thought we'd be awful and I was pleasantly surprised. After a little running around she (we) got the idea. Our second week she realized everyone had treats and I almost gave up after spending the class chasing her. But I upped my treat bag to smellier things and after advice from our trainer we carried on and from then on she never looked back. As a lovely side effect she was much better behaved at home too. I'd recommend anyone with a high energy or smarties pants dogs to try it" **photo credit to the beautiful rebel for giving us her best agility pose and to mya in her graduation ribbon**

Ohhhh please won't someone play fetch with me forever! Kenzie wants a forever buddy to play games with and a space to call her own. If you can offer this loveable big pup a forever home please pm us. She's a 9 month old lab x Pup.

User

Birds of a feather. Monty is learning how to chill like a pro. If you have room for this leggy beauty please pm us. 4 month old male lurcher pup. Lurchers are a firm favourite in the SDFR family so send us a message if you want to know what great pets they make.

Look who's learned how to play with his foster sister.

Why foster? We asked some of our foster families why they do it. After a few replies mentioning sanity our foster mama Gemma said: "I have been fostering for 10 months and since then 12 fosters have been and 11 have gone. It is so rewarding to see a sad arrival leaving for their new home happy and full of confidence. You really know you've made a difference to their life. I know I can't save them all, but I can definitely save 1. The less glamorous side of fostering is de...finitely the toilet training, we decided to get rid of the carpet and I have had my plant collections slightly chewed but it's easily forgotten with the love they give. I would seriously recommend fostering; with such a fantastic network of foster carers from the start I had all the support and help I needed and you may just find the perfect dog for you while you're at it!" If you think you'd like to give fostering a go send us a pm.

Are any of your furry little darlings running rings round you or would some of them like to learn some good doggy manners while meeting friends their own age? Laura is running classes at the end of august and has a couple of spaces left. She's worked with some of my own furbabies and they love her.

What an amazing group of dedicated and caring women! I adopted from SDFR just over 2 weeks ago and everything went smoothly. Even after we took Nooshka home we had support from SDFR. A massive thank you to every volunteer who works to save dogs in desperate need of help! Without you we would have never met the sweet Nooshka who has become a massive part of our lives and a member of the family <3

User

What a lovely and compassionate foster rescue who truly love all the dogs they can help to go to there forever homes they work tirelessly to help these poor dogs well done ladies xx

User

Well what can I say, I've witnessed Sophies grow from the ground up. These people are what is right in the world. So much time and effort put in by all the VOLUTEERS, yes that's right every person does this as a volunteer giving up their own time and sometimes money to help these dogs in need. Well done, keep up the good work and I only hope to see you's grow bigger

User

They made adopting my pup so easy but did everything properly. Good home check and kept me informed of the process. Now the proud mum of the lovely Mia (formerly Boots). Thank you so much x

User

These ladies have hearts of gold, the care and love they put into each and every dog that is lucky enough to be cared for by them. To see the pictures of them settled in their forever homes and the updates shows Sophie’s really do care about them, they don’t just home them and move on, they follow up ensure that the forever home is a perfect fit for the puppers!

Such a fantastic rescue, does a fantastic job helping to get all these pets a 5 star home, never gives up on them,Well done to all involved it's a credit to you.x

User

Such a caring and compassionate rescue group always prepared to go that extra mile for our four legged friends Gives super feed back to its public following and supports its fellow rescues in this vital role What's that saying "simply the best "

User

Sophie's rescue is brilliant rescue for dogs...they are so compassionate and makes sure each animal get a secure safe loving home .

User

Sophie's has helped us find two perfect dogs. The first, a part-ginger nutcase and the second, a chilled out little cuddle monster who just just wants human contact. So pretty much canine versions of my wife and me.

They care that the dog goes to a good home but also that the dog is right for that home.

I've come to agree 100% with their moto "ADOPT DON'T SHOP". There are plenty of dogs out there just waiting to find the place for them and while they all have their own personalities they aren't complicated... they all just want to be looked after and be part of a family. Sophie's gives them that opportunity.

5* for the hard working selfless people involved.

User

I did a collection and drop off from the pound for sophies dog foster rescue and dealt with Anja, they selflessly devote so much time to helping surrendered or homeless dogs. I really appreciate all they do for our 4 legged friends. I only wish I was in a position to do more

User

I can’t thank Sophie’s enough for bringing Holly into our world x

User

Got my puppy Polly from SDFR and it was a great experience. Polly adapted so easily to our home life having been fostered in a home and is the most fantastic well rounded dog, couldn't fault them!

User

For the amazing work they do

User

Don't have enough good things to say. Originally enquired about a dog and after a chat was put in the direction of the gorgeous Frankie. Everyone I dealt with was just fabulous. Theresa did our home check and left with a face full of staffy kisses from my crazy boy. Foster mama was just an angel. Answered every question I had. And as for frank well. If ever there was a dog made for my house and it's unique level of mad. It's this wee man. Feels like he's always been here and it's been a few weeks. Have told everyone about you guys. And will definitely be keeping an eye on your good work. Thank you doesn't even begin to cover it

User

Been following this page for some time now and I gotta say the work these guys do for the animals is incredible, always go outta their way to ensure all the animals are cared for and looked after, I would definitely only adopt now!! Well done guys keep up the hard work
