The Emergency Department at Craigavon Area Hospital is very busy today. Non-emergency patients should expect longer wait times. Our staff are working very hard to provide care & treatment to ill patients as quickly as possible.

Free Wheelchair skills opportunities for children on 31 July and 22 August 2018

The Southern Health and Social Care Trust are hosting an information evening on Tuesday 31st July 2018 in effort to recruit foster carers specifically for children with disabilities. If you have worked in education, health and social care, or have personal experience of caring for a child with disabilities and have the skills, experience and passion to help vulnerable children, then fostering could be a rewarding lifestyle! The information event is open to all members of the... public. It will offer the opportunity for anyone interested in the scheme to talk to experienced carers, meet with social workers, and learn more about short term, long term and respite care. You will have the opportunity to learn more about ‘Harry’– a fun, loving and affectionate 10 year old boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder who requires fulltime care. Harry needs carers who can provide him with love, care and attention (Carers will receive £36,000 per annum* in addition to foster care allowances. Ongoing support and training will be provided. *the agreed fee is child-specific to Harry’s needs). For more information or to register your interest Contact Family Placement: 028 37 560 750, fostering&adoption@southerntrust .hscni.net or Short Breaks: 028 37 564 350, shortbreaks.team@southerntrust.hscni .net The Trust welcomes all enquiries regardless of age, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or relationship status.

Two patients are being admitted to the hospital – both are in a stable condition. We would like to thank all of our staff and partners in the NIAS and NIFRS for dealing with this incident as calmly and professionally as always and for making sure that all of our patients received the best possible care.

What can I say. Just home from spending the last 18 hours as a patient on the other side of the fence. I honestly cannot speak highly enough about each and every member of CAH staff who helped me in every way. After witnessing an extremely busy night in A&E these guys cope amazingly well with all situations and challenges faced. They simply do not get enough recognition for all their commitment and extremely hard work in such daily challenging times. Thank-you EVERYONE!!!!

My baby had a recent stay in hospital for one night. I could not praise the staff on the children's ward highly enough. Very attentive, kind and caring. Made a stressful time all the more bearable. Very well run ward. Also had a good experience on the maternity ward. The doctors, nurses and hospital staff don't get enough credit as I know they face challenging times in the hospital environment.

User

I was in the maternity Led with flu last week and I could not praise the staff enough, from admission to discharge the midwives were amazing and the treatment was first class.

I have to say the NHS and CAH have been fantastic we had our 3rd baby last Sunday morning and the staff in induction ward, delivery suite and 2 West couldn’t have done more for us so helpful and supportive we were so thankful. We ended up in PDU with our 3 day old and admitted to children’s ward for the night on Wednesday and again staff are fantastic and with the weather changing and the bad snow they done their upmost to get to work and be there for patients, very thankful we love someone with an amazing team of health care thank you Again

I cannot thank the staff of Craigavon Area Hospital enough for their service yesterday. I was scheduled for surgery on my knee which thankfully went ahead after a long wait leading up to my surgery date. The staff were under soo much pressure yesterday with a lot unable to make it into work and having to move around resources to help as many people and departments as possible but the level of care they provided me with was incredible. Every single member of staff I met was fantastic from the health care workers, kitchen staff, Physio, nursing staff, anaesthetist, theatre team and surgeon. I was made feel completely relaxed even though everyone had worries of their own of how they would get home to their own families in the horrendous conditions. Some had been on nightshift from Wednesday and had stayed in to help out where they could. Their dedication and commitment to their patients was such a credit to them all. These people are soo undervalued in our healthcare system and deserve so much more recognition than what they get! A special thank you to the charge nurse in the Orthopedic ward who went above and beyond to get me discharged in such good timing before the status red warning so I didn’t have to stay overnight and was then able to make it home while the roads had been cleared. I literally cannot praise these people enough and hope everyone got home safe

Had my long-awaited surgery in Daisy Hill today, just wanted to say thank you to Mr Gudyma and all the theatre team and the absolutely fantastic nurses from Female Surgical, care assistants and catering staff on the Elective Surgery ward.
