Angling guide I worked on two years ago just launched yesterday by Newtownabbey and Antrim council, with the Mayor and the lads from Straid Fishery , which has been recently announced as one of the venues for the upcoming XVIII Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships in September. Often early season dry fly fishing is for me not about size, It’s how you catch the trout this year it’s finding a rising trout with the very sparse hatch and trying to catch it in the hardest of conditions. Was able at last to get out for a couple of hours on the local. Very sparse hatch of LDO , but was lucky to get this beautiful wild trout on the dry . Needed it just good for the mind. I spent one hour at this trout before I got it . #guidelineflyfishing #costaglasses #wildtrout #semperfli

I just found out last night , Lefty Kreh passed away today. What a great man and also a real gent, I loved talking to him a couple of years ago , we had a laugh and talked fishing. Condolences to all the Kreh Family and his many Fly fishing friends. A REAL icon of our sport has just gone to fish the big lake if the sky , tight lines Lefty. RIP .

An extensive local knowledge of the river and flies to use ensured a cracking day's fishing which has helped me enjoy my local river more than I would have believed possible.
