Boxing for All – Strabane Taster Event
The Irish Amateur Boxing Association is calling for any Community or Youth Organisation to get in touch if they are interested in taking part in the IABA’s ‘Boxing For All’ Taster Event in Strabane. The event which will take place in the Melvin Sports Centre on Saturday 20th June from 9.30-12noon will provide groups with the opportunity to try boxing for the first time. The local clubs (Mourne Golden Gloves, Immaculata and Two Castles A...mateur Boxing Clubs will be on hand to teach participants boxing skills and techniques and Derry City and Strabane District Council will provide a fun warm up through their Active Communities Coaches. Nicky Flanagan, Active Club Coordinator for the IABA stated; ‘this is a great opportunity for groups to have a go at a fun and disciplined sport, right on their doorstep’. Retail Excellence Ireland has chosen Roisin Woods of McElhinneys, Ballybofey to represent Ireland as our only judge at the Global eCommerce Summit in Barcelona on 9th June. A member of the Retail Excellence Ireland Board, she is an active participant on the e-Commerce committee. Roisin, Senior Manager for Marketing and eCommerce is also the driving force behind the award winning McElhinney...s.com. This leading Irish e-Commerce manager demonstrates a progressive approach in her digital vision, and will be judging the Entrepreneurial Awards along with ten fellow judges from across Europe. Sharing her winning criteria, Roisin commented “It is important that the winning entry displays an innovative approach to their online business, early adaptation of advanced technologies and originality.” Although “scalability and revenue are factors”, Roisin wants the winner to display “true entrepreneurial spirit”. A keen observer of the e-commerce space in Ireland Roisin notes “We are in the midst of exciting digital times in Ireland; success is no longer determined by the size of your business, but how fast you can adapt and integrate new technologies – constantly improving the customer experience. I am honoured to have been chosen to represent Ireland on the judging panel and I am looking forward to learning more about what is happening globally online, new EU regulations and digital forecasts”
Roisin and her team launched www.mcelhinneys.com in November 2012. In this short space of time they have represented Ireland in Europe and won Retail Excellence Award for Best Online Store 2015.
