Strangford Lough Yacht Club is situated in Whiterock Bay in Killinchy, between Comber and Killyleagh. It is in an area of outstanding beauty and on the finest sailing waters in Ireland.
We promote sailing and enjoy all the social activities that can be associated with it.
Members are keen to enjoy and promote racing and cruising on Strangford Lough and throughout Ireland and the world. Strangford Lough Yacht Club host a variety of dinghies and keelboats which race competitvely during the sailing season. These include Rivers, Glens, Clippers, Flying Fifteens, Sonatas, Cruisers and a large dinghy fleet.
We run several sailing courses in summertime and the Junior Sailing on Sunday mornings is very popular. Members can even hire dinghies!

A fantastic end to this summers Sunday Sailing. Great fun was had on the water and off. A big thank you to everyone who helped make it happen this summer in particular the fantastic group of instructors that we have at SLYC it just couldn’t happen without them. Our end of season event today was a funday and coffee morning fundraiser in aid of Kodi’s Krew over £900 was raised and a big thank you to all who worked hard in the kitchen serving coffee tea and buns. Finally congratulations to all our youth sailing prize winners 👏.
Great turn out for Kodi Krew fundraiser.....come on down and have a yummy bun.

Anyone got a football net or basketball net the club could borrow for a kids fun day Sunday, it's to raise money for treatment for a little local girl....

3rd September Mainsail -
On Saturday 25th August, we had a Try Coastal Rowing Event at SLYC. Sketrick Coastal Rowing Club, very kindly came along with their boat 'Knotty Lass', along with Stephen, Elaine and Barry. We had a great turnout on the day, which was also helped by the weather.
Everyone that had a go in 'Knotty Lass', spent 30 minutes rowing, with some gentle coaching, guidance and interesting facts about Coastal Rowing, which I think added to the experience. If anyone who missed out on the event and is keen to have a go, please get in touch.
The next stage is to arrange a talk at the Club, for those who are genuinely interested in Coastal Rowing. Hopefully this will be in September.
Thanks to everyone who came to attend the Dinghy Race yesterday at SLYC! It was a great turnout with over 15 boats out, and people of all ages. The Glens even decided to join us at one point! Also a special Well Done to all the Adults who had just passed their Level 2 Adult Learn to Sail Course and took part in the Race!
