Sweet Wall Eventing

Full sweep of colts this year...meet our latest arrival and the last of our own mares to foal. The ever reliable Ethos spat out this handsome chap last night and he was up on his feet and at the milk bar in record time! We’ve decided to name him Dandy, as I had volunteered to sit up and watch last night and was reading Michelle Obama’s autobiography with the camera’s set up next to me, and just at the part were she was talking about her Grandad “Dandy”, Ethos lay down and started to foal!

Slightly different day for us at Glenpatrick! We were there as owners to watch our Quingenti with Clare Abbott who has taken over the reins while I’m injured, and what a fantastic job she did 😎 They had a confident double clear to finish 2nd in the EI110, not bad for only being together for a short time! Can’t wait to see what this pair can achieve but hopefully it won’t be too much longer before I’m back in the saddle 🤞Big thank you to the Megahey’s for a wonderful event and to Dora and her hard working team 💪

All the horses are thoroughly enjoying their unplanned holiday while I’m on the injured list! Xavier seems to think this feed pot needs filled up 🙈

And another addition to Sweet Wall arriving last night after lots of sitting up and waiting...everyone meet Dodger! Dodger is by Gatewood (son of Galileo) out of a mare who is the half sister to the dam of Altior 💪 we are so happy with our lovely big colt, not often you get exactly what you wished for 😎

And we have a winner...everyone meet Duncan ❤️

First arrival of 2019, a beautiful colt by Tullabeg Fusion out of a Puissance mare 😍 we’ve narrowed down the name choices to Dusty or Duncan...what do you think??

Quingenti practising lines ahead of his first run of the year at Tyrella 2 💪

Xavier Green, 6 year old ISH bred and produced here at Sweet Wall. Xavier is a great grand son of mums Junior European Team Gold medalist and 4**** (new star system) eventer and is part of a great dynasty of event horses, including my own 4**** eventer Olivers Green 😍

I can’t really believe I’m writing this but I’m heartbroken to say that my gorgeous Kilcannon Coolguy will be retiring from International Eventing and Eventing at a high level. He came back in from his winter break looking and feeling fantastic and we’ve spent all winter gearing up for the CCI****-S at Tattersalls International, and he’s been going better than ever, which makes this decision even harder for myself and mum. A recent set back has shown us that he simply couldn’...t cope with the increased work load that was required for the upgrade and it was time for an easier career path. ‘Nibbs’ will be staying here at Sweet Wall for his Eventing retirement and will continue to do some lower level showjumping and hopefully have a new career in Dressage with my wonderful new groom Marta Krężel ❤️ Nibbs has always been Mr Consistent and is one of the kindest, most honest horse I’ve ever ridden. If you pointed him at a jump, he went! He loved his job but his true life love is mint imperials, we always have a few packets hidden around the yard incase of emergencies 🙈 This has been an incredibly difficult decision but thankfully there is still something to look forward to with all the young homebreds just at the beginning of hopefully very successful careers 🌟

First event of the season done and dusted 💪 Xanthe Green finished 3rd and Xavier Green 7th in section EI90-B and Xenophon’s Honour 2nd in section EI90-A! All 3 horses are homebreds, broken and produced by Lucca here at Sweet Wall so it was a very satisfying day when all three came home from a tricky cross country course, all clear and inside the time 😎 Don’t think I’ve ever gone cross country in the sunset but it did make for a lovely backdrop! Big thank you to everyone at Tyrella for a lovely day, to Dora and her team, all the officials and to Lightsource for their new sponsorship of the event ☺️

The ever gorgeous Xanthe Green strutting her stuff at the final leg of the Baileys Horse Feed’s Flexi Eventing, were she won the Pre Novice dressage section, only her second proper test and her first Pre Novice 💪

Good day at the final leg of the Flexi Eventing today! Xenophon is proving to be very consistent pulling out a 73.3% for another top placing in only his second test. Xanthe stole the show yet again with an upgrade to Pre Novice, again only her second test ever, to win with 72.5% 💪 I’m very excited to go into the 2019 season with these lovely homebreds. Big thank you to Dora and the team at the meadows for a super league, not to mention Judy Maxwell at Baileys Horse feeds for their much appreciated sponsorship of the Flexi Eventing league.

Sweet Wall Eventing is looking for a new member to join our team! We are looking for someone to help with the daily care and preparation of Event horses and with the production of the next generation of potential stars.
Job includes
... 🌟Usual yard duties 🌟Assisting with exercising fit Event horses, from lungeing, hacking, fast work to schooling for the right person 🌟Preparing horses for competitions with turn out to a high standard 🌟Travel to national and international events in Ireland and the UK 🌟Handling youngstock and breaking
We have a small team of people so an ability to work together with good communication is essential. Our goals for this season include an upgrade to CCI-S**** (old CIC***), multiple horses competing at Tattersalls International, National Championships, competing and training in England and much much more!
Single accommodation available with us and will be included in the employment package. Pay rates would reflect applicants experience, depending on the role they take on (head person, groom or trainee groom).

Edited to add Tori O’Connor’s photos of Xavier and Xanthe (receiving adulation!) 💫💫 Very proud rider tonight, with all 3 homebred and produced young horses scoring over 70% in their first dressage tests today. Great start to the 2019 season, really excited to see what these youngsters can produce in their first season of eventing. The older boys (September Son, Quingenti, Olivers Green and Kilcannon Coolguy) where furious to be left behind today but they’ll get their turn out soon. Got to make sure the younger generation don’t take all the glory!
