What a fantastic day we had at Country Comes to Town 2016! The weather was kind to us and we had the opportunity to chat to so many nice people. Just a pity we have to wait a whole year for another one!

Looking forward to our Annual networking BBQ! Last year was superb - great food, music and networking. Everyone is welcome to come along, meet Tada Rsn staff and find out a little more about what we do within the community. See you there!

The Rural Micro Capital Grant Scheme 2016 opened for applications today! If your group can contribute to reducing isolation and improving the lives of people in your community but would need some funding to help you along then read on! This grant of up to £1500 is available for capital items to assist rural groups to improve their community. With just 15% match funding these grants could be just the helping hand up needed to boost your group and encourage participation. The application is a fairly simple one and we encourage all to apply.

RURAL CAPITAL MICRO GRANTS - OPEN THIS MONDAY The 2016 run of the Rural Capital Micro Grants is scheduled to open on Monday 5th September. The Grant, of up to £1500, is available for rural community groups to help tackle rural poverty and social isolation in the local area. Previous recipients have purchased a variety of capital items from building improvement to dinner sets. Application forms and guidance notes can be downloaded from our website http://www.tadaruralsupportne...twork.com /news-events/ Please note if your group is in the South Armagh or Lisburn areas the form can be downloaded from County Down Rural Community Network website. These small grants have proved very worthwhile and made a huge difference within the communities that have availed of them. We would encourage everyone in a rural area to apply including previous recipients.

Some TADA staff visited the Ballina Salmon Festival over the July holiday period to maintain the good relations between Ballina and Portadown. The highlight of the trip was the Heritage Day. TADA were the guests of honour of the Ballina Chamber of Commerce, Mr Matt Farrell, and were given a tour of the town. There was a perpetual cup in memory of Mr Jim Dickson M.B.E. awarded to "The Lady Of the Moy" it was an extremely busy but enjoyable few days networking and sharing ideas for community planning both North and South of the border.

On Saturday past, TADA partnered up with Rural Community Network Cookstown and the ABC men's initiative to bring men together from across the whole ABC council area to engage in a range of community relations programmes and activities. They visited the Navan Centre Armagh to learn about early pre Celtic times in Ireland. Great stories were told about the myths and legends as well as the Hound of Ulster and Cuchulian. Everyone had a fantastic time having fun while broadening their knowledge of ancient Ireland.

TADA RSN hosted a historical walking tour of Portadown in conjunction with RCN. About 12 people took part and talk was given by local hitsorian Brendan McCann who managed to condense 600 years into an hour and half
