tenx9 (ten-by-nine) is a monthly storytelling night in Belfast where nine people have up to ten minutes each to tell a real story from their lives. Each month has a theme.
HOW?
We invite you to share your story (ten mins max) which you can tell (or read) on the night. The format is your choice - as a written work, off the top of your head, as a piece of poetry. . . . Put simply, it's not about fiction but about experience.
The aim is to tell stories, plain and simple to a group who want to listen - this isn’t to pass a test, but to share a life.
On our website (linked below) there are tips on writing your story, telling your story - and a few other ideas.
WHY?
Human beings have been telling stories since they discovered ways to communicate. We plan to maintain that tradition. Stories of life, death, love, loss, the amazing, the commonplace; stories that defy belief or reinforce belief; stories of hope or despair; stories of today or yesterday.
tenx9 is not about fiction – it’s about experience. It’s not about lies – it’s about truth as we have all experienced it in our individual way.
WHO?
When all is said and done it is about you – the keeper and teller of your tales and you also the listener.
WHERE?
We meet in the green room of the black box (hill street, belfast).
