Went to the Ava tonight for dinner and it was delish. Went for something different and had the lobster. It was cooked to perfection and the sauce that accompanied it was lovely. Definitely recommend and will be back. Great food and great service.

We visited on Saturday nite after persuading granny to babysit. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who let us know it might be 5-10 minutes. The wife turned to me repeating his words as if this might be an issue for me. It〙s not like I could have left and been in another restaurant and seated quicker than where I already was. Anyways, the barman was a decent spud and sorted the missus out with a few G and Ts, explaining to her that they don〙t come in pint form, just glasses. Within minutes we were whisked away to our table through the gaggle of Bangorians, most of whom knew each other or who had probably slept together before moving further afield to Ards. For starters we had the black pudding sausage roll and pate. As is custom for any married couple, mine was better and the wife wanted my bit and soon I was craving my main. The fish and chip struck the right chords and even being backed up by onion rings and chips didn〙t feel too heavy on the batter...which many restaurants have lost points on. The chilli chicken was both chicken and chilli, delivered in abundance. I ordered a lemon tart for dinner and the wife declined only to ask for a spoon and a wee bit of mine. After a small row we finished our meal satisfied and happy.

Tonight the Ava let a very lively group of ladies hold their leaving dinner downstairs in the back alcove. Being one of them I〙d like to say Thank You so much !! The food was so tasty and the specialty cocktails looked amazing. I would also like to thank the Assistant manager for resolving an issue with one of the meals, and being our photographer, it was very much appreciated.

We will be back to partake of more food and beverages soon.

The place is delicious. Keep doing the great work. Don't let the negativity stop you. You guys keep cooking amazing food. Maybe those posting comments about how things are changing may want to enter competition and set up a vegan restaurant with meat options. As all current restaurants offer vegan or vegetarian. I don't understand the negativity or the hate. Glad to see those promoting love and health for sentient beings are wishing hurtful and spiteful things on people. I don't think alot of people see the contradictory nature of their comments. Would be nice to see healthy competition rather than the classic sjws coming out to play

User

Split my drink and the lovey bar man replaced it for me and was so lovely all night food was great too!!

User

Really impressed with the service ,The Gluten Free Fish and chips was up thee with some of the best I〙ve ever had

User

Husband and I were here last night for some drinks and something to eat, the food was lovely and the staff were great, deffo visit again ÿ¢§

User

Had our first visit to the Ava today and have to say the food was amazing, every plate on our table was left completely empty and three of them belonged to three very fussy kids. Nicest lunch he had ever had was my seven year olds opinion. Also the staff were absolutely lovely, they were very attentive and friendly and one waitress seen me taking pictures but couldn〙t get the whole family in and she offered to take it for us. Even when my wee boy nearly knocked our table over and he got upset the waiter made a joke of it and made him feel better. We had travelled down to Bangor today for an Easter Day trip for the kids but myself and my partner both agreed we would happily travel this far again just to visit the Ava, and conveniently right beside the train station too. It was the perfect end to our day to visit here and will definitely be back!

User

Had a fantastic meal on Saturday night. We had not booked but were accommodated with no hassle. Service was exceptional, from the moment we sat down until we left.

There was great music and the atmosphere was perfect, could not speak highly enough of our evening.

User

Had a delicious meal on Friday night. I had the surf & turf from the specials which was beautiful and the steak cooked perfectly. The apple & pear gin is to die for!! Only thing was the guy singing was a bit loud. He was amazing but didn〙t need a microphone

User

Great location, friendly atmosphere, nice menu variety, well-prepared dishes, excellent service.

Live music from an Irish trio was icing on the cake.

User

Went for tapas Tuesday . Food was fine although I would say that the tapas are not as good as when the tapas bar first opened . Bread tasted like cotton wool but overall the food was fine and the staff were friendly and attentive

User

Went to the Ava for the first time on Saturday. We were out to celebrate a friend〙s birthday and had booked the table for 5.30. Before taking any orders, a waitress came over to tell us we had to be gone by 7.30 as someone upstairs wanted our table at that time. Then she disappeared for the rest of the night. The food was delicious - I have to say it was one of the nicest meals I〙ve eaten in Bangor. It〙s just a pity that the staff seemed so rude. One waitress came over to wish a happy birthday to our friend, but other than that, the service was terrible and no one acknowledged the celebration. We got menus for dessert, but no one mentioned that you had run out of the chocolate brownie. We understand that food sells out, but we should have been told at the time of getting the menus. Our bill was brought to us the second we had finished dessert, which hinted that they wanted rid of us, then as soon as we had gathered our money, the waiter was there for it straight away. Then a waitress was suddenly there with the next group standing beside her for our table. Never felt so unwelcome in our life. Such a dampener for my friends birthday celebrations. We were going to stay for a few drinks after, but the service was so rude that although the food was great, we just wanted out of there. Our group is good tippers, but although we tipped, we tipped poorly, and we have never had to do that before.

User

Was here yesterday for lunch. Food was ok but felt it was overpriced for what it was. Chicken ceaser ciabatta. Came with small bit of chicken, one small piece of streaky bacon, one lettuce leaf on half a bit of ciabatta bread for ôÈ12.95

User

The meal was nice but I felt it was overpriced for what you get, I choose from there healthy range which was from only 3 dishes could definitely do with more choice in this range, but the sauce seemed quite calorific when you are serving a healthy range you should be displaying nutritional information.

User

Very unhappy about the recent live lobster idea. A real way to move backwards when every other place is creating more diverse options for vegetarians, vegans and even people who just don〙t want to chose a living creature from a tank so it can be killed for their dinner. Would avoid this place. Bad idea Ava.

User

Pretty tasteless gimic killing lobsters to order. When people see these harmless and interesting creatures which in natural conditions can live to many decades old it is not very good to see someone point one out to be killed by amateur butcher chefs to satisfy their taste buds for a few minutes quite needlessly for cheap thrills of choosing their victim.

User

One way to destroy the diversity of customers through the door is to have a live lobster tank so people can choose an animal to be killed there and then for their dinner. Animal cruelty at its finest..... poor show Ava, il be taking my business elsewhere.
