most exciting new up and coming bar of belfast, can't wait for this one🍸
Went out for a few drinks to the opening of pub. Great atmosphere and music and not a hen party in sight!
We were in on Saturday night, lovely place, chilled music, really friendly staff...the place has a good vibe
Very cool bar, a great place to hang out with good music
Such an exciting time! Looking forward to the opening of this, something new and fresh to bring to Belfast
Popped in and had a look around xx The bar staff were warm and friendly and I can't wait to see the place grow from strength to strength xxx
Musician friendly bar! Lovely experience through and through with a booking. Cool vibes, nice atmosphere, plenty of seats. Would recommend! Enjoying a nice cold one now
I'm excited to hear that dogs are now allowed. I've heard so many good reports and wanted to visit...now I have an extra incentive. Excellent news!
I went along on Saturday nite arrived about 845 and had a couple beers then around 9 we were offered complimentary drinks at the end of the bar fab staff very friendly and courteous I deff be back great decor.
Great to see a New Bar on the Scene in Belfast. Excellent band and DJ. Great to see a new place for all ages and genders. Put a spanner in the works with other Gayish Venues Close by.
Great place, everyone is really nice and the music is excellent!
Great atmosphere. William was on the bar and made us feel very welcome, Had the grapevine cocktail and it was great!
Great atmosphere and great design. Staff are fab. Give it a go you won't be disappointed
Class bantz
Absolutely brilliant. The bar staff exceeded attentiveness, Chris couldn't have been better with recommending and providing cocktails. Perfect location and such comfortable vibes inside and out. The best French martinis in Belfast.
Was there last night, great selection of beers, lovely vibe for all and well priced as well. Will be back.
Nice enough but my God that music was too load to even think never mind chat. Sort it out, chaps!
Looks like a good venue with decent music sic but don't expect to hear anything from anyone you're with as the music is SO loud.
On Saturday night we went to The Bear and The Doll, deciding that we wanted to try a new gay venue in Belfast. When we arrived around midnight the bouncers told us they were closing the bar but to go to the club entrance round the other side. We got chatting to the club entrance bouncers for a few minutes who told us it’d be £10 in. We weighed up going to a different gay club as £10 was expensive but decided to try this new club. When I got in the door and paid my £10 I noticed that the clientele looked strikingly non-queer. I mentioned this to the woman on the door who informed me that they were hosting an afterparty and ‘we’re not gay or straight, we’re an everything club’. I asked her to clarify what she meant by this - you’re either a gay/gay-friendly club or you choose not to label yourselves as such. She continued to dodge my question and call it an ‘everything club’. Upon realising that it was not an LGBT venue I felt I had been mislead and wanted to go to another club such as Boombox, and so I asked for my money back before I had even stepped foot inside the club. The woman refused, telling me that I had been given my stamp. I suggested she could scribble it out or I could wash it off but again she refused - taking my £10 despite my obvious uncomfortable feelings about being in this place.
After about ten minutes of being inside the club with 3 LGBT friends, one of my gay friends was harassed by one of the clientele. He was repeatedly told to down his drink by an aggressive stranger claiming to know the owner. When my friend declined the aggressive man grabbed and pulled him out of his chair violently which prompted us to leave. Another queer friend of ours also said he was being intimidated by one of the other people in the club. He said his personal space was invaded and he was being talked to in a condescending and patronising fashion which made him feel very uncomfortable. We went outside and reported this to the bouncers - expecting a gay-friendly venue to take reports of harassment very seriously. Instead we were told that essentially they didn’t care and that we were the ones causing them an inconvenience as they are not a gay club. Upon googling The Bear and The Doll however, the first result is of an Irish News article naming it ‘the latest addition to the heart of Belfast’s gay quarter’. To me this totally implies that it is an LGBT, or at least LGBT-friendly bar. To be quite honest it seems blatantly obvious to me that The Bear and The Doll are very happy to call themselves a gay venue when it suits - cashing in on and exploiting the gay community as they offer no support when an issue arises. After asking again for our money back after our disastrous, very short-lived experience we were again refused and told to write an email. We left infuriated after enduring a total lack of respect from both the door staff and the bouncers. In my opinion a club, whether gay or not, should deal with issues of (potential homophobic) harassment very seriously, and certainly never dismiss them.
P.S. If you feel the Irish News article really is misleading customers so much I’d advise you to contact them to change the wording as since May it has been the top result on Google (as I have attached below)
