The Belfast School of Speech and Drama is an amalgamation of two very popular and well established Drama Schools;
'Born Actors' with sisters Anne and Katrina Cassidy &
'The Claire Kieran McGrogan School of Speech and Drama'.

We are a Unique group of teachers because as well as being Fully Qualified and experienced Speech & Drama teachers, with the complete and reputable New Era Academy Licentiate, we are also experienced Primary School teachers of almost 20 years. Therefore we incorporate the relevant Key Northern Ireland Curriculum Drama strategies into our lessons and are fully aware of how to use our classes to improve children’s progress in all areas of learning.

Games and activities include mime, improvisation, verse speaking, choral speaking, devised drama, story-telling, acting, public speaking, musical theatre, reading aloud and much more. Classes are practical, unthreatening and most importantly FUN!

Pupils are annually offered the opportunity of participating in:

• A Christmas Production
• Regional Performing Arts Festivals
• New Era Academy of Speech & Drama Examinations. (NEA exams are now fully accredited – Level 3 qualifications and above are now included in the UCAS Tarif. )


We are passionate about the importance of raising the self-esteem of all our pupils! We are very aware of the need to nurture children with a wide range of abilities. Our aim has always been to make each child feel valued and special. Self-Belief is so crucial in young children. With the right encouragement, it is amazing what can be achieved and our advice is NEVER UNDER-ESTIMATE THE QUIET CHILD! !

St. Bride’s Parish hall, Malone Road, Belfast BT9, 6FP
Thursday evening
Junior class 4. 30pm – 5. 30pm aged 3 ½ to 7 years old.
senior class 5. 30pm – 6. 30pm aged 8 to 14 years old.

St. Anne’s Parish hall, Dunmurry, Belfast, BT10, 0NE
Saturday Morning
Junior classes 10 am – 11 am aged 3 ½ to 7 years old.
Senior classes 11 am – 12 pm aged 8 to 11 years old.
Advanced classes 12 pm – 1pm aged 11 to 18 years old
