I message from my girlfriend which was taken down from the Brook Veterinary Facebook page back in September 2015.

It's only now over 3 weeks later that I have been able to gather the mental strength to physically write this review of the Brook Veterinary Clinic in Enniskillen. We have been faithful customers with this practice for a good 20 years and are deeply troubled by our recent ordeal with them.
My little Jack Russell dog hurt himself trying to jump a wall chasing after a ball, initially we didn't realise what had happened as he continued to play, maybe it was adrenaline that kept him going, but a short while later he started being sick and couldn't keep anything down.. He vomited extensively so we rang the vet on a Saturday morning. They didn't open till 10am however as we thought they would be willing to see us out of hours I called at around 8.15am, no answer on the first ring, but on the second ring a female vet answered, I explained the situation and she asked if we could wait til 10am when they opened.. I said I would rather not wait as I felt he was very ill.. So she asked me to bring him up at 9.30am... Thought ok well it's better than 10am.. So got gathered up and headed off to be there at 9.30am.. So the vet turned up at 9.45am.
She briefly examined him.. I told her again he had jumped a wall and could that have anything to do with it (??) she said he was in absolutely no pain whatsoever, and diagnosed him with gastroenteritis and dehydration, put him on a drip and anti-sickness medication over night.. At 5pm that evening a different male vet phoned us to give an update, which basically was that the dog was no better, and had been sick a few more times. On Sunday morning, I rang the practice to see how he was and spoke with again a different female vet. I was told on the phone that he was much brighter and livelier and that we could take him home at 12noon. When we went to pick him up he looked like he could barely walk and I definitely would not have described him as being brighter or livelier. I asked the vet if they could perhaps give him some kind of scan or X-ray to see if anything was wrong inside, and her reply was "no, not at this stage"... We took him home and he got progressively worse as the day went on, there was just no life in him. I decided I would lay him out on my bed and examine him, and on doing this I noticed a huge lump and bruising around his private parts, I did some internet research and thought it was maybe a hernia that had happened when he tried to jump the wall.. Phoned the second female vet back, said I thought it might be a hernia, and she said "we would have picked up on that if it was".. I told her I had looked it up online and he had all the symptoms, so then she said "it could well be a hernia".. and she said he could come back up Sunday night but no scans or surgery would be done til Monday morning. So a friend advised me to go to another vet, I phoned them, explained all and they said to come immediately.

He was diagnosed within half an hour and ended up needing to have 2 operations within 36 hours.. He had a torsion in his left testicle and a ruptured bowel, as a result of jumping up the wall. Then because his problem was left so long he took peritonitis which is an infection in his abdomen, and sadly he didn't make it through the night on the Tuesday. I'm absolutely heartbroken by all that happened. Not only have we lost a family pet but I've lost my best friend. Our house is no longer the same. We are disappointed with the service we received, which has had a horrible outcome for us as a family.

I have been taking my pets to Maeve and her team since we moved to Fermanagh over 30 years ago. Maeve's father was the chief vet then. I have complete faith in her and her team. I have always found them to be very kind, caring and thoroughly professional. I cannot recommend them highly enough!! Thanks Maeve and Cathy etc

I've been using this vets for over 10 years for all my domestic animals (up to 4 dogs and a cat). At the Brook, your pet will get absolutely first class treatment, you will both be treated with dignity and respect, you'll be given all the advice you need for your pet's aftercare, and you won't be charged a stupid amount for it. Other places might be slightly cheaper, but I've never found a better service than from Maeve and her team, and that is why I wouldn't go anywhere else with my beloved animals. Try them, love them!
