The Dark Horse

After a lovely afternoon in The Dark Horse with a great crowd & familiar faces it's heartbreaking when it ends like this. Vandals (that's the only word for them) smashing one of our beautiful antique cabinets, then vomiting all over the bathroom (including into the hand dryer). It's the same old story - a rude & careless minority ruining it for the majority. I'm posting this partly because I'm so angry (cleaning up puke & glass is not how I wanted to spend this evening) but also to show what businesses like this are up against. This is why unfortunately prices go up & the door to the murals gets shut. I'm so glad that the vast majority of our visitors are a million miles from this!

We've been reliably informed that The Dark Horse is the coolest place in Belfast! As Gloria said 'sure we knew that already!!' ( thank you air conditioning) The Dark Horse will be closed on the 12th, 13th & 14th July, reopening on Monday July 16th. See you then ☀️

Excited to welcome Kabosh theatre company back to The Dark Horse for another spell of 'Quartered'. I'm all about the buttered digestive biscuits!

It's nearly half past eleven, & we're not heading inside yet in costa del commercial court. It's beginning to look a lot like summer 😎

I hereby launch my one-woman campaign to have Erin, Orla, Michelle, Clare & the wee English Fella added into the shrine to the famous/infamous folk of the North of Ireland (aka the murals in the courtyard). Like & Share if you'd like to see this happen - I mean, I don't want to be individual on me own...

Would sincerely like to thank Mr Willie Jack, The staff in the Dark Horse and Hamilton & Kirk for all they did to make my 4oth Birthday celebrations a truly memorable occasion.



My guests have traveled from a far as Galway, London & New-york, they were blown away by the impressive Decor and Hospitality of the staff from the front door to the Bar. We all had a fantastic night and the food that was supplied was second to none. Everyone commented on how tasty the food was and I believe that some of my guests are considering holding their special event in The Dark Horse. a truly special night which will be left in our memories to treasure-Thanks again!

What can I say? A huge thank you to everyone at the Dark Horse for helping to making my 60th evening so memorable. It really was a great night. Special thanks to Lindsey for all her help during the planning phase and on the night for being so attentive. All the staff were brilliant! Thank you.

What a lovely place staff one of the most pleasant and helpful I have been in Belfast .us girls had been up for a over night stay on Thursday then on Friday bit shopping and heading back to hotel to get our suitcases called in dark horse so glad we did will definitely be back �

Just in after having hubby's birthday party here. Great night, everyone saying how much they enjoyed themselves. Nibbles were excellent , staff could n't have been nicer. very attentive and nothing too much trouble.

Went with my son to see the Game of Thrones door just before catching our plane home. Didn't realise that we turned up about half an hour before closing on a Friday lunchtime with many food choices sold out. I'm a veggie & my son is very fussy but the friendly staff really went out of their way to find us something we could eat.

Went to see the GoT door. We went 2 hours before opening just to find it and come back. They let us in to see it even though they weren't open yet. Great people. Will visit again when we come back.

We had our wedding reception here and it was the perfect venue. Full of character, brilliant staff... The Dark Horse is full of Charm. Guests of the wedding were wowed by it. Thanks so much for an amazing day that we will never forget!

The dark horse is the best spot in Belfast. Chris was a fantastic host. He is really nice, knows his whiskey and will take great care of you!

Simply wonderful. Went there for the Game of Thrones door, but was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it was inside! Our waitresses were wonderful, one even gave us a brief history lesson of the property. A must go-to in Belfast!

I had my daughters 21st birthday here and from the minute we booked the staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough. Fab venue and so much atmosphere, amazing place for a party and suitable for all ages!! Brilliant night had by all

Hands down my favorite stop on the game of thrones door tour! Special thanks to Betsy and Chris for being so great and for all the hospitality!

Excellent food as usual...........very friendly staff. A great place for a group meal, plenty of space. Hopefully be back again over the summer with some of my visitors.

Came upon this lovely bar by chance, absolutely loved it. Nice quiet, private settings, gorgeous food (plenty of gluten free choices) and delicious coffee. Real wee hidden gem. Would definitely visit again!

Came to see the door, staff are very welcoming and one of the lovely bar staff members came over and had a chat with us to help us with our travels. Would recommend to anyone who would like a nice drink with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. �

Amazing place, had a lovely lunch and really enjoyed looking at all the murals outside!

All the staff were excellent but especially Lyndsey, who went out of her way to help us!!

Fab place that benefits from Game of Thrones Door 🚪 10. Staff always friendly and only too happy to dispense information about the door, murals, facts about the area etc. Really enjoy visiting there.

Great place for private party.great staff....we really enjoyed Martins birthday party last night....so handy to local hotels etc.....so its 5⭐ from me....

Drink far far too dear. Staff not very pleasant. Only one disabled toilet in the place!?! you have to go down the entry to get a proper ladies toilet (not being sexist but men are dirty pigs and the floor is soaking cos they don't know how to pee properly). Also, no dance space to speak of. Basically, like a lot of "trendy" places in Belfast, especially in the Cathedral area, its a case of fur coat, no knickers. Wouldn't rush back.
