Without a doubt one of the best bars in Northern Ireland. Highly recommend.

Went out with the work crew after our cocktail training. The wings and ribs were amazing and the beer selection was great! The staff were very friendly and had a laugh with us which was good. Will definitely be back!!!!

User

Went for a few drinks, bought some coke off the friendly bouncers, that's fucking quality gear, by the way. Night was fantastic. Friendly waitress gave me a blow job in the toilets in exchange for a few lines!! I'll be back!!

User

Popped in for the first time. Just a quick pint and glass of wine. Great service. Decided to order a portion of chips and the were the best we have had in ages! Great service. Will defiantly be back in for a meal soon.

User

Only 1 criticism : if you are ordering a "small" portion of wings as a starter at the same time as your main, do NOT ask them to bring it all out together lol! These people have a warped understanding of the word "small" - but I battled my way through! My steak ciabatta was a little cool by time I (eventually) got to it - though the PERFECTLY cooked rare - medium rare steak certainly made up for that!

Also, the staff were awesome - almost as awesome as the wings!!

Will definitely be back. A LOT.

Love this place. Had a lovely lunch yesterday with my mum. We both really enjoyed our food and left very full as the portion sizes were huge. Great selection of beers/ales and staff very friendly. I have been quite a few times with work colleagues and family and have never been disappointed. Will definitely be back ☺

User

Love the Hudson my favourite place of all time for the wings. So deliciously spicy. The staff are lovely the lady who took our order yesterday was really attentive and wished us a good day as it was Mother's Day. My only complaint was how you didn't have any Prossecco and I'd been looking forward to some bubbles and to be honest Corona didn't quite hit the spot 😔

User

Great lunch menu friendly staff great service great variety of beers and spirits great spot

User

Food was pretty good, but what sets the Hudson apart is their customer service. Absolutely top notch and something to be proud of. Up there with some of the best I have had, and it didn't seem forced.

User

Cant believe some of these bad reviews...I have always found the staff very friendly. Great pub with good food and always a good atmosphere. Love it.

User

Great atmosphere......staff really friendly......food good as well and very reasonable

User

I thought the Hudson was a great bar. But then found this page. What happened?!!!?

User

Seriously what's going on at the hudson? Status Quo tributes and £2.50 carlsberg? Brian Potter from phoenix nights must be managing the place now.

User

was told it was fine by the bouncer to use the disabled toilet because all toilets were busy, then was kicked out for using it by another bouncer. had to leave all my friends and was made to feel like a criminal for bad communication on the bouncers behalf. will not be returning. shit craic.

User

Saved up for months for one pint , it was no sooner in me until it was out. Seeking compensation for new toilet bowl and free pint

Midas rejoiced in his new power, which he hastened to put to the test. He touched an oak twig and a stone; both turned to gold. Overjoyed, as soon as he got home, he touched every rose in the rose garden, and all became gold. He ordered the servants to set a feast on the table. "So Midas, king of Lydia, swelled at first with pride when he found he could transform everything he touched to gold; but when he beheld his food grow rigid and his drink harden into golden ice then he understood that this gift was a bane and in his loathing for gold, cursed his prayer" Midas' daughter came to him, upset about the roses that had lost their fragrance and become hard, and when he reached out to comfort her, found that when he touched his daughter, she turned to gold as well. Now, Midas hated the gift he had coveted. He prayed to Dionysus, begging to be delivered from starvation. Dionysus heard his prayer, and consented; telling Midas to wash in the river Pactolus. Then, whatever he put into the water would be reversed of the touch.

Having been a massive fan of the Hudson Bar for many years, I decided to bypass the massive shift in their marketing strategy and visual identity and call in for a pint and some wings. The wings, as I had previously remembered, were the best in Belfast by a mile. Unfortunately, my experience was not the Hudson I knew and loved, but instead something much less enjoyable and altogether avoidable.

I arrived with my girlfriend and ordered a half pint of PBR and a Guinness, and had to swap the PBR for a Hop House as the tap was off. Completely acceptable, and went on to order a portion of wings to share. After 35-40 minutes, we had finished our drinks and still not received any food. Our waitress called to the table asking if we had ordered food, and when we confirmed it was our order of wings that had not appeared, her profuse swearing indicated there had been some mishap or fault and the food would not be arriving - an apology and a discount of 10% was offered and our wings reordered. Again, that's an acceptable price to pay for the wings I was expecting to receive.

When our wings arrived, 10 minutes after we'd finished our drinks and 45-50 minutes after ordering, we tucked in. The wings were ok, but absolutely miles off from the Hudson wings of old, which I can only assume are now a thing of legend. We had managed about half way through the wings before I found a rather long hair on one of the chicken wings. This was not something I was willing to cooperate on, nor was it up for discussion when I was advised that some chicken wings "had little hairs on them". Our waitress arrived again around 10 minutes after we'd stopped eating, and when I asked for the food to be taken back it was brought to (who I assume to be) the manager standing at the bar, who then conversed with our waitress and two other members of staff, all of whom thought it was particularly apt to gesture and nod towards our table as if we were a massive burden to all four of them.

Our waitress returned after a few moments and offered us a full discount with a very brisk apology. A glass with our bill was then brought to the table, and we decided to move on to somewhere else for our dinner that night.

I'm not a massive fan of shaming businesses on Facebook, but I feel like I had to share my recent experience before anyone else decides to try their hand at rediscovering the legacy of the Hudson wings. Sadly, it's gone, alongside the witty social media posts (can't remember playground retorts being used very often in the golden days) and the excellent selection of beers.
