Day 6 - be social not social media.
Running is not just about fitness. It can be one the best ways of making new friends, and creating lasting friendships.
I can safely and proudly say that within our running groups we have created many new social circles and indeed friendships simply through running and together.
... Without being over dramatic it can change your life in a positive way you never thought.
So don't just think running is simply about one foot in front of the other.

Day 5 - Health and Fitness
Many people start running to lose weight, to get fitter and stay healthier which is no bad thing. Not only does this make you feel better about yourself but also increases your confidence and self esteem.
To help with this, taking part in events, races etc can help motivate you and in the long run ;) make you even healthier, stronger and fitter overall!
... You can also help others - train and run for charity, volunteer at your local parkrun or even become the inspiration for someone else to start running to become a healthier fitter person. If they see you doing it, then why can't they do it too...
So don't let obstacles like time, confidence, weight, self esteem get in the way of what you want to achieve.

Day 4 - Set a goal for the New Year.
The older you get, the less interested in setting goals, you become. You lose sight of your potential and become complacent in fitness and also in life.
How many times have you tried to run but truly deep down you know you gave up too easy?
... With having a realistic goal to aim for and a little bit of commitment, it can turn a 'what if' into 'I done it!'
With so many events around you, including a weekly free 5km parkrun on your doorstep you have plenty of options.
How many runners have we already helped achieve their goals?!? We can help you achieve your goal...

Day 3 - Its Christmas! One of nicest times of the year but also one of the most stressful and this tends to progress into January, with worries that can increase your stress to unhealthy levels.
There is an argument that a bit of stress in your life can actually keep you focus but lets be honest too high of a stress level can have serious health implications and can affect others within your life circle. The good news is that running is one of the best outlets for relivin...g stress.
The simple act of going for a regular run can put everything into perspective, help you live a low stress life and help give you that eureka moment! Some of the best ideas can actually happen during a run.
Then put that with the social element of running with others and the worries can be put on the back burner.
In January we will have our usual compliment of running groups in Newry Warrenpoint and Newcastle, so it is the perfect time to either start or get back to it!

As we build towards the next set of groups here is Number 2.
No.2 The Runners High Contrary to believe The "Runner's High" actually exists.
... It's well documented that while running the brain releases chemicals called endorphin's which can improve your mood, general outlook on life and your overall happiness.
Whether a runner experiences the high during or after a run, the effects can last for hours or days. Runners report that they sometimes run just to feel that high and if they stop running for an extended period they actually miss it.
How many times has your mood changed for the worse if you have stopped running for a while or even experienced the dreaded runners guilt?
