Tildarg Fishery

MARIE CURIE COMPETITION We are holding our annual Marie Curie Competition on Sat 18th May 2019. First prize - two night stay for two people, B&B, one four course meal and use of the spa and pool! Other prizes to be confirmed. Entry is £23.00 to include 1 fish/boat and lunch. Each competitor must also raise at least £30.00 worth of sponsorship for Marie Curie. Sponsorship packs will be available at the fishery or posted out if required. They include sponsorship form and information about the wonderful work of Marie Curie. Report on the competitions 23rd/24th March. Sat 23rd: Silver Butchers had their first outing to Tildarg of 2019. All fishing on a catch and release basis, and each angler was supplied with a scale to weigh their biggest fish. 59 fish were caught and released. 8 fish weighed between 3lbs and 4lb 4oz. The winner was G. Lyness, and G McClelland was runner up. Sunday 24th: Last of our winter competitions to win a free year's membership. This saw Belfast man David Magill c...atching the biggest fish at 4lb 8oz, caught and released. As he had already paid his membership, he was refunded the £200 cost. James Girvan won 2nd prize with a fish of 3lb 4oz. He donated his 3 month membership prize to Michael Hamilton who also won the draw of £26. M Morrow came 3rd with a fish of 3lb 1/2oz, but as there wasn't a prize he has a free day's fishing. The weather was much colder on the Sunday, and only 20 fish were caught, with 6 being killed. On Saturday Robin Mitchell had 10 fish from the bank using a hares ear shuttle cock, the two Couchman's had 29 fish between them. Of the 8 anglers fishing, 68 fish were caught. Our last winter competition is next Sunday 24th Feb, please phone if you want to enter!

We had our competition on Sunday, very cold and windy day for the anglers. S Collin from Bangor was the winner, his fish was 5.2ozs, Larry Gibb came second his fish 3.8.5 oz, it was a close call as J Lavery had a 3.8oz rainbow. Thank you to all who supported us!

We had planned to close the bait pond for a short period of time to develop it properly. We will proceed with this work, the bait pond is open for bait and course fishing!

After consulting with our members from Tildarg, we have decided NOT to proceed with bait fishing on the main lake. We always aim to provide a good service to all the people who support us. Thank you for your comments! Please continue to support the fishery, and we welcome suggestions.

Yesterday saw the first of our Winter Sunday competitions, with 13 anglers braving a cold south easterly wind to compete. They were glad of some nice hot soup for lunch by the fire. Congratulations to Jonny Hanna from Antrim who won the First prize of £90 with a lovely 5lb fish. Second place went to Harry Patterson from Carrickfergus, winning £40 with a fish weighing in at 3lbs 9oz. Trevor Thompson from Cullybackey won the draw which gave him £28, well done! The next competition is on Sunday 16th December, starting at 10am. Book early to get a boat as some are already booked. Tight lines!

We will be putting a rod up for ballot, which will be drawn on the last competition in March. Tickets £2.00 each, are on sale now in office. lake fished great again today j , mcfadden ( member ) had 20 , w,beatty ( lisburn ) and a. kirkpatrick ( portavogie ) are just in , willy had 24 and alen had 20 , once again fish taking just under the surface , shipmans buzzer doing the trick .

We took a large group of children for a days fishing to Tildarg, we were made most welcome on our visit. The staff provided information on stock of fish plus was able to talk about the age of some of the fish. We even got to hand feed some fish to get an up close look at the size they can grow to. �

Had a great day on Tildarg fishery on Saturday myself and Bother, Sam made us very welcome considering we haven't fished there in many years, The weather started of quiet good but as usual it changed for he worse Wind very cold then later the Rain came in but it didn't put the fish down we had 14 Rainbows biggest around 4 lb and the rest averaging 3lb these fish are in great condition and have great tails they also don't know when to stop fighting.

Great fishing, all the staff always very obliging and look after us, great fighting fish and always have a good run. Would say best run in the country! Keep up the good work �
