About Titanic'S Dock And Pump-House

Touch Titanic's Footprint. . .
. . . and marvel at the men and machines which built her

Titanic'S Dock And Pump-House Description

Nowhere else on earth can bring you this close to Titanic – the world’s most famous liner, built here in Belfast. She sat here in this very dry dock on the eve of her first and last voyage in April of 1912.

Titanic is remembered for the dramatic story of her sinking, but in 1912, she was an icon for all that was great about the 20 th century.

Cafe 1404 are looking for some super stars to join their team - if you think you're the one or know the one get in contact with them.

User

Open as usual folks 10am - 4.30pm. It’s still a little wet down here so care needs to be taken but the team at Cafe 1404 are on site to help with anything.
See you soon 😁

User

When will it end? With more snow forecast today and a slippery layer of slush, the dock will remain closed today - the rain to come should clear things & we will resume normal opening hours of 10am - 4.30pm tomorrow.
Thank you for your understanding 🙂

User

The fresh layer of powder is keeping conditions just a little too dangerous around the dock so we will remain closed today folks. Apologies for any inconvenience & we hope to be back to normal tomorrow.

User

As picturesque as we are in the snow it’s just a tad too unsafe to explore so we are CLOSED until further notice.
Stay safe folks ~ we will be back as soon as we thaw. 😊

User

Morning folks - beautiful day down at The Pump-House but the ice still hasn’t thawed so we are still closed until further notice... we will keep things updated on here!!
HAPPY SUNDAY 😁

if you want to see the REAL Titanic sites..then this is a BIG MUST !! the real Dry dock that Titanic was berthed in....not an exhibition centre but a real live enormous artefact.....don't miss it !! John White . White Star Memories Ltd.

User

You cant visit titanic belfast without visiting here! The last place titanic stood before heading to southampton! The dry dock is huge, which gives you an idea how big the ship was! Worth it!

User

What a great experience! A Shame it's not very well advertised, or signposted from the Titanic's visitors main building.

User

This is a must do if you're interested in the Titanic. The dry dock was the final place on dry land that Titanic stood before her ill fated voyage. The sheer scale of her, and sister ship, Olympic were brought to life as we stood at the bottom of dry dock. On our way we visited the pump rooms including the Victorian pumps.

We were exceptionally lucky to have a guide, Colin Cobb, who brought the docklands to life as we walked down from the shipyard through to the dry dock.

This is a fab experience both going down the dry docks and pump house, it is £2 but it's so worth it breath taking. Don't be fooled by the Titantic Exibition centre, as it's. Irving to do with actual Titanic, it's just an arena really to host events. The Titantic experience amazing, one recommendation I would say is that when the tickets are issued they could be 'real people on the ship, and information about them on the ticket, what class were they, did they survive etc, they do this in America at there Titantic experience, but they don't do photos which you do and I loved ours, very good value to! I would say one negative point and that would be to have more interaction, like separating the men fro women, feeling how cold the water was etc but overall 10/10 great day

User

The whole Titanic experience is amazing so much thought has been put in to make you believe that you was there all classes are shown and the crew as well, can take 3 hours to do it justice

Cafe and bistro on site with good priced meal deals

Did the pump room as well it's a half mile walk and signage could be better but well worth it the magnitude of the height and length put how big into perspective with the noises that would have been heard at the time.

User

The last spot where Titanic was on dry land. A bit haunting in a way but really interesting for those who are into the story of the great ship.

User

The docks are a must see for every Titanic fan. It's a ten minute walk from the museum but well worth it. You get a great sense of the massive size of the ship. And the feeling of being at the exact spot the Titanic began her 'life' is amazing! We went to the slipways and docks before visiting the museum which gave you a better impression about what's shown and told at the museum

User

Such an awesome place! Cafe 1404 is a great spot for coffee and grub too!

User

Stopped off for a cuppa and some pictures. Very friendly staff. Busy getting a lot of renovation work done but will be brilliant when done.

Only down side was I am disabled and had to walk a fair way from the car park to the caffe.

The roads and paths were all cobbled and uneven. No good for my wheelchair or mobility scooter. Plus the lift was off in the caffe and the toilets were upstairs.

No good for disabled people. Hope you put some thought into it before completion of renovations

User

Second time I have been, and loved it. Did the guided tour three years ago which was fantastic and just done a self guided. Really interesting and love the replica hull channel four did. James Cameron (director of titanic film) said that touching the gate made his day so I had to touch it too. Also a lovely coffee shop and lots of books and dvd's/cd's in the shop to lay your hands on. Definitely worth a visit and I would definitely go a third time or fourth or fifth.

User

If you would like to get a true sense of the sheer size and magnificence behind the engineering and construction of Titanic, visiting the the dock is a must. You have to enter through a nice cafe where you pay the entrance fee and you can pick up a nice cup of coffee to tour with

User

I loved it here when I visited twice before in the past. Now it's all fenced off and you have to pay to enter. This is part of Belfast which has always been here and not recently built. If we can visit the slipways without paying why do we have to pay to enter the dry dock. Titanic building and hms nomadic I can understand paying but the dry dock along with all the other dry docks around Belfast have been here for years and part of our history. Stop exploiting Titanic !

User

Found it very interesting. The dock gates are a work of art themselves . Standing in the docks where titanic was built was sereal . It was a place of imagination for my wife as her grandfather was a head carpenter on the build of titanic.

User

Exceptional day out. Make sure you see all of the site including the "Nomadic", the pump house and dry dock and of course the main museum exhibition. We also took the guided tour which tells you stuff you wouldn't know otherwise.

Only one complaint. Why is it that some Casino in Las Vegas has thousands of retrieved artifacts from the wreck, but the Belfast museum basically have none?

User

Excellent, well worth a visit. So interesting, everyone really helpful and full of information.

User

Dry dock is one of the best parts of the whole titanic experience. You can really see the whole magnitude and scale of the ship with some interesting facts dotted around the perimeter before your descent down in to the dock itself. It's definitely worth all the steps down in to it. Well worth a visit.

User

Brilliant experience - until you are standing in the dry dock and looking at the engineering in the pump house, nothing fully explains the vast scale ...

User

A must see. An important part of the Titanic story and it was a moving experience being where the great ship had been and touching the great gate was the memorable.
