Uco Belfast Description

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. "

-John 3: 16

UCO exists to spread the gospel, build community and offer students a path to become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ.

For more than forty years, students all around the world have met in UCO groups large and small to support one another in living a Christian life during their University years.

For UCO students, to live a full life means more than keeping busy at college, a full life is: relationships of real depth and trust across denominational boundaries
โ€“ Protestant, Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican and non-denominational Christians sharing what we hold in common while continuing to observe and respect our differences. sharing the whole week with other Christians to receive support and encouragement in living for Christ
โ€“ through bible studies, sports activities, food, coffee, prayer events, road trips, retreats, serving the poor and small groups for Christian support.

Reaching out to those who do not know the love of God and inviting them to share the full life that he offers us. a place to learn, grow and thrive as a Christian throughout University and beyond. For men and women who seek support in their Christian walk, their life of faith, or who merely seek the truth, UCO exists. . .

"John 3:16 doesn't say that God so was frustrated at the world that he sent his son... It's God so LOVED the world and he still does."
We had a fantastic second night to our Life in the Spirit series yesterday! Thanks for sharing Tadhg & Josh.

If you've not read any other story, read this one that Adam has shared. I couldn't have said it better! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
"LSS taught me about the many gifts God affords us, and how easy it can be to reap these rewards when surrounded by the right people. Having the opportunity to discuss issues of faith and how these interact with our daily lives was so crucial for me, and through UCO I was able to interact with scripture ...and teachings in a way that left me with life lessons. Similarly, it challenged me to get to know God better โ€“ a question that I had never thought of asking before. Questions like โ€˜Who is God to me?โ€™ and โ€˜How do I choose to talk to God, and how does he talk to me?โ€™ were both challenging and so very welcome for me as a young Christian, and they are questions I have not stopped asking myself since.
Above all, LSS was an opportunity for me to really experience the community that comes with faith, exploring and interpreting Godโ€™s will and our desires together and, in the process, making some new long-lasting friendships. 2 years later and Iโ€™m now living with some of those people that were once strangers, and looking back itโ€™s easy to see how LSS gave me the chance to experience this as one of those gifts that God can bring into your life: people that change your life."

Here's what Alex has to say:
"The Life in the Spirit series gave me a new understanding of the Holy Spirit and Godโ€™s gifts for me. It reaffirmed my knowledge of Godโ€™s plan for me and the way he wants to use me.
... I would encourage anyone to try the Life in the Spirit Series to interact with God on a personal level and grow your relationship with him."

Only 3 days till our kickoff on Tuesday!! ๐Ÿ™Œ
Here's Mary sharing her Life in the Spirit story:
"For me, taking the Life In The Spirit course was an opportunity to be welcomed into a Christian community of people who cared about my life and faith. ... Stripping the Gospel back to basics and exploring what it meant with people from very different backgrounds to my own was refreshing and enlightening, and I was shown a new picture of the Holy Spirit, who can often be put in a box in our Christian lives. Learning more about what a life lived in the light of the Holy Spirit can be like helped me to develop my faith and grow as a person.
Since the course I have been able to take these conversations further by being a part of UCO, and coming to the Life In The Spirit series is a great way to become integrated into all that UCO has to offer throughout the year.
Iโ€™d really recommend it and hope to see you there!" ๐Ÿ˜Š

4 days to go!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ
Here's Robyn's experience of LSS last year:
"Finding LSS has helped me to understand God better. When I first came to LSS I was quite a new Christian, and this helped me to understand the basic teachings about who God is and how he wants his children to know him and spend their lives with him. God's true love was expressed in how I was actively welcomed and brought into a Christian community, which I later learned was ecumenical. Now I get to help serve on ...this team who bring people into God's fold, as he teaches us to love people with open arms. ๐Ÿ™Œ
God wants us to know his love through the experience of Christian community. His vision is that people will be welcomed, regardless of where they come from, and through the help of their Christian brothers and sisters, understand God better and help us to make wise choices in our lives."

5 Days until the Life in the Spirit Series kicks off!!
Here's what Jon McCreedy has to say about last year๐Ÿ•บ
"I have been a part of LSS in UCO Belfast for the past two years. I found it to be a good introduction to who God is and how we can live out our faith in practical ways, with some great speakers providing content each week. It was a very welcoming environment in which to discuss different areas of the Christian faith, with a focus on how we can look to the Holy Spirit for guidance. I thought LSS excelled in the small group discussions which happened after the talk each night. I found it super easy to pose questions I had and discuss openly my thoughts on the talk of that evening."
