ONE OF OUR DUCKS IS MISSING!!! Some scoundrel has made off with the lovely Hastings Culture Duck, lovingly created in our workshop. The 3ft duckie lived on the piano in the hotel foyer and was a talking point for all the guests, but went missing last week and the hotel’s general manager has offered a reward for its safe return. Neil Devlin said: “The Culture Duck has been a focal point of our City of Culture celebrations. At Hastings Hotels we are well known for our quirky du...cks so we thought it was only right to have a special duck to celebrate Derry~Londonderry’s big year.” In a surprising twist, it has emerged that Culture Duck may now be in England after it was spotted boarding a plane by Ulster Unionist councillor Colin McCusker. So the wee duckie has gone further afield on an adventure it seems… we’re assuming he was being carried and not boarding by himself. If he is off on holiday by himself we can understand why he needs to use a plane - we only gave him little stubby wings and they aren't very 'flappy'. Culture Duck was designed by Georgia Archibald from Limavady Grammar School who won the Design a Culture Duck competition last year. The Everglades Hotel is offering a reward for the safe return of their Culture Duck and are urging anyone who knows anything about its whereabouts to get in touch with them on 028 7132 1066 Share this on folks – the duck must be returned to his piano, it misses him…

It's been years since we've been in the Guild Hall, what with all the time in use for the Bloody Sunday enquiry and then closed this past year for an extensive facelift/refurb. It always was a most beautiful building, but the facelift has really done wonders from what we saw. Re-opening today, with public access from 10th June - a visit definitely recommended!
