That man Philps has been at it again....this time the port wing spoilers(?)......nice one Alex (and Kameron of course!!)
Really incredible Saturday last week, first we had 3 of the original Wildcat team (1983) together for the first time in over 30 years and when Ernie joined the group...it made 4! Then out of the blue my spotting mate from schooldays (Ian Yeates)...whom I hadn't seen for 25 years popped in from Australia...WOW!! I bought the Sea Hawk model for Ian about 6 years ago but never got around to posting it... Some days really are fantastic.....
Memories of Grandpa! Hangar Boss Ray Burrows, left, introduced our Wildcat cockpit on Saturday to descendants of Lt. Ted Scoley, a pilot with the Fleet Air Arm’s 882 Squadron in WW2. Rory Harper, centre, from Lisburn, is a grandson of Ted; young Ryan McStay, 8, of Newry, is a great-grandson. Our Wildcat’s pilot, the late Peter Lock, flew in the same squadron; this was his aircraft, which crashed near Lisburn in 1944. Its restoration is moving along at a steady pace.
We've had some interesting Television productions filming at the UAS Hangars as a location over the past 5 years: http://ulsteraviationsociety.org/filming- location
Some pictures from Sunday at St.Annes. The man behind the RAFVR Memorial, John Hewitt is pictured at our Spitfire. Assembly of "Down" is always interesting especially when the wing takes off! 502 Squadron pose in front of our Spitfire....
Last day at the Balmoral Show 2019. Drop by and say hello to John, Roy, Garry and David.
Clodagh Kearney, 7, got a lift up from daddy Jonathan to peer inside our Puma at the Balmoral Show Thursday. That tiger head has a message: Fangs a lot for visiting our display!
“..and he stretched forth his hand….” Confronted by a red sea of students, Society Vice-chair Alan Chowney guides them into our Puma helicopter Thursday at the Balmoral Show. The massive machine will be at our site Saturday, the final day of the annual event, so stop by and get acquainted.
Ray Spence spreads a model message at our Balmoral Show marquee. In an era of mobiles and online distractions, there’s no better volunteer to sell the magic of model building to young folks.
A couple from today at the RUAS, Balmoral Park.....it seemed like a slow day in comparison to years past but "Lady Emily" from Hillsborough Castle and her 'stable boy' added a touch of class....
Puma on the prowl...with the help of our volunteers, preparing for another exciting Balmoral Show, starting tomorrow and running for four (yes, four!) days this year. Our big beast is popular with the crowds at each festival, and with the weather forecast looking good, it's a great opportunity to clamber inside for a photo or look over some of the goodies at our marquee shop. See you there!😃
Not very often we can get this many volunteers to pause for a photograph....thanks to Michael Carbery.
George Smith on a visit to the Collection with his son on Saturday points to a photograph of himself beside a Sea Hawk taken during the Suez Crisis . George served in the Fleet Air Arm for many years and was truly amazed at our aircraft. He also presented us with a collection of photographs and other memorabilia. Look forward to having you back.
Flapless Flight testbed. What do you think?
Reacquainting themselves with our 330 recently is pilot Ed Boggs and Gerry Murphy ex Shorts product support department.
