The Ulster Society Prevention Cruelty to Animals (USPCA) is the second oldest Animal Welfare Charity in the world. Founded in 1836 as the Belfast SPCA it’s first priority was to challenge the abuse of working horses, a daily occurrence on the Victorian city streets. The eventual name change from Belfast to Ulster SPCA acknowledged the scale, scope and success of the Charity's expanded operations across the province.

The purpose of our founders to ‘Prevent Cruelty and Relieve Suffering’ remains as the driving force for our Charitable activities. The USPCA differs from many other animal welfare groups who focus on the needs of a single species with our unique commitment to protect ALL our animals.

Whilst there are heartless individuals willing to inflict unnecessary suffering on animals the need for a USPCA will remain. This Society will ensure its resources are effectively used to prevent animal cruelty and relieve suffering. For over 175 years we have fulfilled our commitment by adapting to the times. The USPCA will continue to protect ALL animals by utilising and adapting advances in technology to help tackle an ever present problem.

The beautiful little Nala in for her first Puppy Groom today. Isn’t she just the cutest. 💓
We recommend introducing your puppy to a groomer to allow them to get to know the groomer & the process, making them a lot more comfortable & relaxed when it comes to their appointments. 😊
For bookings please call: 028 3025 1000 ☎️

We are deeply saddened to hear of the horrific events that have taken place in Sri Lanka over the Easter Weekend.
Having visited Sri Lanka in March 2018 we have witnessed the kindness of it’s people and the outstanding beauty of the country. We hold the people of Sri Lanka in our thoughts & prayers at this extremely difficult time.

Two of our Trek the Rockies participants were out collecting in Asda Portadown on Saturday. There was a total of £449.35 raised for the charity.
Thank you to everyone who kindly donated on the day and to Asda for having us! 😊👏🏼

Thank you so much for looking after Jasper this week! The vets are so friendly and caring. It's really easy and quick to get appointments and the text reminders are great! Weekend appointments were extremely useful so our newest addition Buddy could get vaccinated. We can't thank you enough for all that you do for our two boys!!

Can't recommend this place and the staff enough! Took my very nervous springer here to Newry today to get clipped and due to various reasons she is absolutely petrified and both the vet today and the groomer were amazing and so professional. Can't say enough about them. Will be taking all animals here from now on and recommending here to all my friends. Thanks so much USPCA.

User

Amazing place with great staff...thank god we have the uspca in Newry!!

User

Absolutely fabulous service. Unfortunately we had to get one of our kittens put to sleep today as a stray Tom cat Came into our home and injured the wee pet. The on call vet was amazing and so kind to the wee pet.

User

My partner rang uspca Newry today because my mother's dog got knocked down and they more or less told her to ring her local vet. Very disappointed as this was an emergency. Will not be using there services again.

User

My three much loved cats were found poisoned on Saturday in Galgorm Ballymena. I immediately phoned the USPCA for help and advise as we were devastated at what had happened. After several attempts and leaving a voice message we still had no reply so we then emailed them instead. That was five days ago and we have not heard a word from the USPCA. They clearly were not in the slightest bit interested.
