Today is a very sad day for everyone involved with Wandsworth Community Centre, as all scheduled activities and classes are now suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus outbreak. This is a situation that Wandsworth has never faced before, and we really don't know what lies ahead in the coming weeks and months.
For anyone who has recently used the Centre, we have an activity suggestion for you! Message into this page and let us know how the Centre's closure has af...fected you and/or your family. We will add these comments to our 'time capsule' which will be kept in a safe place and will be looked back upon for many years to come!
We would like to ask our users, visitors, volunteers, group leaders and the wider community to stay safe during this period. Be sure to follow the advice and guidance that has been provided by the government and Public Health Agency. This can be found using the following link... https://www.publichealth.hscni.net/
This is going to be a challenging time for everyone, and it is vitally important that we stick together and look out for each other. We would also like to ask everyone to look out for those vulnerable members of our community, who may require some extra help and support during this difficult time.
If anyone requires assistance in any way, please feel free to contact Alison on 07903674698. Our volunteers will do their best to help you out.
Finally, we would like to thank our users, volunteers, tutors and group leaders for their cooperation and understanding during this situation.

Wandsworth Intergenerational Project (WIP) trip to Tayto Castle in Tandragee today. A very interesting tour, finding out how crisps are made... from the potatoes to the packet! A great day of fun had by all.

Thanks to Jonathon from Medsafe Consultancy for coming along and delivering first aid awareness sessions to our Bronze DofE groups. First aid is just one aspect of our overall in-centre training programme, which aims to equip our young people with the necessary skills that are required for their expeditions!

Great night of fun had by the Wandsworth Ladies during their night out to Black Axe Throwing Co!

ALISON SMITH BEM!!!
As I'm sure many of you are already aware, our very own Alison Smith has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in Her Majesty the Queen's New Year Honors List, for her services to the community of East Belfast!
Alison has been a dedicated volunteer at Wandsworth Community Centre for the past 24 years. She has given an exceptional amount of time and effort to the Centre, being involved in organising and coordinating a wide range of activities and even...ts for all ages and stages from across the local community.
Alison has also been a passionate youth worker for many years. Our Duke of Edinburgh's award programme is a prime example of Alison's great effort and determination. Starting off in 2011 with a small group of 8 young people, the programme has went from strength-to-strength under her leadership, with Wandsworth now being recognised as a highly reputable DofE Award Centre. There are currently 168 young people registered across Bronze, Silver and Gold levels of the award.
It's also important to appreciate the vast amount of work that Alison undertakes behind the scene, especially when it comes to the endless amounts of paperwork that needs to be completed to ensure that the Centre receives the adequate grants and funding it requires to operate effectively and to the best of its ability.
Alison is an inspiration to many and is a great advocate for our local community. She clearly highlights to everyone how enjoyment can be sought from volunteering and from helping to make a difference through the work of the Centre.
With that being said, on behalf of the Management Committee and everyone involved with Wandsworth, I would like to send many congratulations to Alison on this truly well-deserved achievement!

We need 6-8 strong men who could volunteer their help on Saturday 7th December (maybe dress up as reindeer though this is optional) 5.30pm-7.30pm to push/pull Santa on his sleigh mostly uphill (Holywood Rd and Belmont Rd) in our carnival lantern parade. Any one who can help should text me on 07903674698 or pm me. Alison Smith.
