Though there is no official definition for what is considered a “gummy smile”, essentially, it is when a large amount of gum tissue shows above the top teeth when you smile, which can make some people feel self-conscious. ... In this case we simply injected a small dose of muscle relaxant into your upper lip muscles which can stop them from lifting too high, giving a natural smile with less gum showing. What can be done about spaced teeth?
This is a case from a little while back..the patient attended for an orthodontic consultation as she didn’t like the spaces in her lower teeth. In the end, she wasn’t keen on wearing an orthodontic appliance for the time period required and wanted to know her alternative options...
After a long discussion about the best treatment we have reshaped her lower teeth with a tooth coloured filling material known as 'composite'.
... Advantages
✅ The treatment was complete in a very short time ✅ There was no natural tooth structure lost as the material is simply added on. ✅ It is less expensive than a course of orthodontic treatment
Disadvantages
🤔 Small amounts of staining can occur on the material after a period of time which requires polishing and sometimes replacement 🤔Sometimes teeth can appear wider than normal in order to close large gaps. However, if well contoured and attempts are made to make them symmetrical then this can be less noticeable.
