The club is open this week for Super Sunday football from 2pm as well as food being available to enjoy while you watch. A fine way to finish off the weekend and stay local at the same time!

The Cricket Club will be open for Super Sunday on 2nd December from 2pm. Arsenal vs Tottenham kick off at 14:05 followed by Liverpool vs Everton at 16:15. There will be a big pot of Stew available between the games or order in some grub from one of our sponsors Four Star Pizza. The spacious pool/darts room will be open with Sky Sports showing. The 11th November 1918 marked Armistice Day and a great deal of relief would have been felt throughout the country. At this club, that sense of relief would have been tinged with deep sadness. On that same day, the funeral took place of Woodvale member Private John Lynas of 46 Woodvale Street, who died on the 4 November 1918 at the military hospital Oswestry Shropshire.
The chairman and joint secretaries of the club at that time, placed a notice in the newspaper requesting m...embers to attend their esteemed member’s funeral. Private John Lynas was buried with full military honours in Belfast City Cemetery.
One hundred years ago on Armistice Day, in the midst of palpable relief that the war had ended, the members of this club paid their respects to a fallen member, who had made the ultimate sacrifice. One hundred years on, today’s members can remember Private John Lynas and honour his memory.
