Yoga is suitable for everyone regardless of age or physical ability. Yoga improves your overall health (body, mind and spirit) by creating a better range of motion (better flexibility) but so much more goes into lengthening a muscle. . . Yoga puts a strong emphasis on the breath.

Stress can come in many forms from rushing to an appointment to dealing with a difficult situation in our lives so in yoga we incorporate the breath using different breathing techniques to help calm our nervous system and help create harmony no matter what life throws at us.

Yoga isn't just about stretching. . . It incorporates alignment, strength and balance as well as core stability. So if you want to improve your flexibility and strength or you just feel you need help with creating balance and reducing stress in your life then Yoga helps to provide the tools needed to cope with everyday life events in a more focused, relaxed, manageable way and to gain a better understanding of our own unique abilities and how we can empower ourselves.

During this period of adjustment, stressful thoughts can set off your body’s fight or flight response. This can cause you to take quick and shallow breaths using your chest for the most part instead of the lower lungs. This leads to shortness of breath and other symptoms like increased blood pressure and pulse rate.
Take deep and slow breaths to initiate the parasympathetic nervous system to induce calmness in your body as well as in your mind. Deep breathing allows more oxyg...en to enter your body and can further help relieve the pressure on the neck and upper chest muscles.
Practice Belly Breathing
💟Sit or lie down. 💟Place one hand on your chest and one hand on your stomach somewhere around your belly button. 💟Breathe in through your nose, noticing your stomach rise. Your chest should remain relatively still. 💟Purse your lips and exhale through your mouth. Try engaging your stomach muscles to push air out at the end of the breath.
For this type of breathing to become automatic, you’ll need to practice it daily. Try doing the exercise three or four times a day for up to 10 minutes.
If you haven’t been using your diaphragm to breathe, you may feel tired at first but It will get easier with practice ☺️🙏

I don’t know how long it will be before I see your smiling, willing faces again but I do trust the process of life and know we will be together again soon 🙌 Practise yoga, it will help you create a space in your mind for peace and hope to enter.
Breathe..be still..be quiet..allow the awareness of the breath to enter and notice how this automatically changes how you feel ☺️

So grateful to be able to take my practice outside today in this beautiful springtime weather ☺️ Hope you’re all safe and keeping well?! Really miss seeing you all in class but I know this is an important global shift and what’s needed to gain perspective towards our planet and our everyday living. Positive change is happening so stay hopeful and I look forward to seeing you back on your mats in the near future. Get outside and enjoy these peaceful moments of solitude ❤️🙏

Sadly I no longer have my mum in my life but I do have wonderful memories of her and I have the love of my life with me every single day and I cherish every moment with him 🥰Happy Mother’s Day to all you beautiful women out there with amazing Mother Hearts ❤️❤️❤️

Before the start of every class I would take a few minutes in gratitude to say thank you to everyone who was waiting eagerly and patiently outside my door. I could hear everyone laughing and chatting away to old friends and sometimes making some new friends, this made me so happy that the space I provided brought us all together in harmony 🥰 As I stood up in front of you all and taught to the best of my ability I felt so privileged to be able to share this wonderful practice with you so if or when things return back to some sort of normality I will continue to be so thankful for all my wonderful students as I never have or will take them for granted. Namaste 🙏

Beautiful message ❤️🙌 I too try to stay away from News & Social Media platforms as they just instil fear and mistrust, instead I choose to believe all is well as this will eventually helps us all change for the better 🙏
“Fear and panic aren’t good advisors. The qualities we need most at this time of radical change are trust, mutual support, responsibility for the whole, flexibility and openness in the face of the unpredictable.
Something remains startling: the incredible pow...er of the virus and its ability to show humanity that we're much more intimately connected than we thought. When a substance in our airways, which is only transmitted through direct contact, spreads around the world within a few weeks, we can say: We are indeed one breath.
The qualities we need most at this time of radical change are trust, mutual support, responsibility for the whole, flexibility and openness in the face of the unpredictable.”

This can be a very difficult time for anyone with mental health problems so make sure you are extra kind to yourself and to others that need that extra love and support 🥰 Stop scrolling through social media and focus on the things that bring you joy and make you feel calm. Stress weakens immunity but practicing yoga lowers stress hormone levels and calms your nervous system to reduce inflammation. Deep breathing helps boost your resistance to infection. Inverted poses in yoga help circulate fluid through your lymphatic system, filtering out toxins. If you can’t get to a class then there’s lots of online classes available so do anything that reduces stress and makes you smile and trust that your own body’s natural defence system is well fit to do it’s job at protecting you 💪❤️❤️🙏
